Re: Challenge of Voltage/Digital standards differences between USA and Singapore

Thanks SE. ~120W self-freezing ice cream making machine. It's TEC (Peltier) based so no compressor/electric motor except perhaps a cooling fan to remove the heat. Nb. I don't understand why this one: https://sg.rs-online.com/web/p/safety-site-transformers/1226711/ is so cheap. It's rated 2k2W and it...

Re: Challenge of Voltage/Digital standards differences between USA and Singapore

I am thinking of buying an isolation transformer but looking for a cheaper alternatives to what PNGMK recommended earlier. I found this one which seems the right thing (except for no stock and I see no drawing) but would appreciate your opinion: https://sg.rs-online.com/web/p/safety-site-transforme...

Re: Looking for work - but why Singapore?

We both have significant Project Management Experience in the UK Automotive industry. Not really any significant car manufacturing in Singapore but I believe some industry for the parts supply (i.e. automotive electronic components) is still around. I would check out some names like for example Del...

Suicide is a selfish act. It's also an act where the person assumes they wholly own their body. They don't - so many people have contributed to them over their life. It's not their life to take. I am fairly sure the folk don't commit suicide for fun. The folks who "contributed" are probab...

Re: Apply For EP As Director or Employee?

Perhaps you should also consider MLI. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multilateral_Convention_to_Implement_Tax_Treaty_Related_Measures_to_Prevent_Base_Erosion_and_Profit_Shifting NZ already ratified it. Singapore not yet, but is the part of the treaty so this is going to happen sooner or later. As far...

Re: Employment Pass Renewals - 2018

6K could be considered low depending on what you are doing. So if you are doing something specialized in IT for example, which locals can't do, then your employer has to justify your value by paying an appropriate salary. The govt is pushing employers to consider locals or even hire freshers and tr...

Re: REP earliest date for renewal?

Is there a downside to renewing early? Heard some rumors that ICA doesn't like too early applications?! True or fake news? I don't see any reason why ICA should see it bad. We are talking about a 3 month window. But the downside of renewing earlier is that you lose the REP time. Upon successful ren...

Re: break the lease if TA not stamped

Hi, we have found the unit signed a LOI and TA, and paid 1 month deposit. After than we have changed our mind and found a better unit that suits our needs. What are my chances to get out of the old agreement - we still have not moved in and the agreement is not stamped. I have informed the agent, a...
