Re: Stupid news articles
LOL! True. At least this one seems to manage to discover that being faithful has very little to do how strong you think you are to resist and how convinced you are your principles are diamond solid, but lots to do, how you handle the situations. Of course, principles are worth nothing if ...

Re: Population in Brief 2023
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/record-population-592-million-rebounds-pandemic-decline-pr-citizens-3808021 The 4% student population surprises me. There are only 5 universities in Singapore and bulk of the seats go to Singaporeans. 4% is a huge number for a country not really popular as ...

Re: Just learnt about a ballooned15 year old CC debt!
Admitting may not have any sinister effects but likely the interests from the principal sum (and later from the interests itself) can go far beyond the statute of limitations periods. That's probably why they are so inflated. But wouldn't they only be claimable if one admits to having knowledge of ...

Re: HELP! Landlord Refuses to Return Deposit
In this case not. Many of them simply get opportunistic thinking leaving tenants would not bother to go legal as this takes time and local presence.pulsarator wrote: ↑Mon, 25 Sep 2023 11:36 pmHi X9200, yes the landlord is aware that I will be in Singapore. Does this affect my chances of getting my deposit back?

Why do they even need to scan the plates if every SG car has the ERP device?

Re: HELP! Landlord Refuses to Return Deposit
Thanks PNHMK and Lisafuller for your replies. What is my next course of action then, given my Singaporean landlord is based abroad? Does this mean I have to take legal action and bypass the Small Claims Tribunal AFTER we mediate? Then I do not see the point of mediation in this sense because the la...

Also for self-employment/business ownership. All is very simple for PRs/SCs and not so for the rest.

Re: Achievements and Innovation Section in PR
I really appreciate your reply. I just wanted to know if promotions and bonuses qualify as achievements. For example, in my first job, I was rewarded a bonus within just 6 months of joining. If you think bonuses and common certifications are the achievements, and writing some code is innovative eno...

I believe you can't get the RFID tag without VEP. How is and whether is enforced, not sure, but it's enough to google to see multiple websites including the mentioned hwz saying you have to have it or your risk being fined.

Re: Driving into Malaysia
I am planing to drive to Port Dickson later this year and I was wondering how the situation evolved in the meantime, since we had the discussion in this thread. 1. I have a functional TNG eWallet with some NFC TNG cards attached and I can top them up as needed with my mobile prior to crossing the bo...

Re: Do not use Valet services to drive your car. They are not insured nor are you in an accident.
@TheRef and I met an Aussie friend last night. He told us he had used a valet service to drive him home in his rental car awhile ago. The young male driver was speeding (confirmed at 130KPH via the rental car GPS) and he 'self skidded' on the PIE and the car was written off. Our friend is now out 1...

Re: Which bank offers coin exchange
Seems OCBC also has coin deposits https://www.ocbc.com/personal-banking/contact-us.page?type=ATM&filter=cwncd (scroll down close to the bottom) I guess the banks that offer accounts for kids may have it. If we really think about it, it doesn't make any sense for them to only offer the service to ki...

Re: Standard of air travel in America has really dropped
Anyways, there's nothing worse than a US domestic flight; the entire process is terrible. Reminds me times when we still considered flying airfrance. Our flight was delayed because of what they claimed was heavy snow but arriving in CDG for connecting flight to Singapore there was like 2-3cm of sno...
