Re: Census; is a tourist an "occupant"

I took out a 12m lease on private apartment starting 01 Jan 2020. Rec'd census form ........... how to complete if do not possess valid IC/FIN or Singpass? You can't. You are not supposed to lease an apartment over longer term if you have no valid residential status (SC, PR, EP, LTVP etc etc.), or ...

Re: Swimming lessons during wuhan virus outbreak

yes: swimming pools and related places are chlorinated and extra disinfected - surely more safe than any other place where children interact together, and for what we know so far the possible infection route is more likely to happen by contact transmission rather than through the air. children seem ...

Re: Bad experience buying furniture in JB

My wife ordered online from JB some furniture for her office. They had it delivered but there were many quality issues and they were not willing to do anything about them giving just blatant and rude responses. As they say, you get what you pay for. On the other hand my experience with Singapore sel...

Re: How to get rid of a barking dog (next door at a church)

Any posters here know some good dog verses, scriptures or poems I can quote this priest in my next letter? St. Michael's is a Catholic church. Unlike Christians, they usually don't really care what the scriptures says, because usually the priest/pope has the final say. Even after you quoted a bible...

Re: Letter from Government Hospital’s Senior Surgeon Helps in PR?

Singapore healthcare has a heavy focus on drawing earnings from foreigners. I work in that industry. Government subsidies don’t cover enough for advanced technologies, and reimbursement is limited by pricing. Thus, foreigner’s Budget and their insurance programs are essential for the development an...

Re: Got in an accident - advice?

You should do a report at the nearest insurance reporting centre so you are not hit with a ridiculous counterclaim. It may be worth reporting to the nearest NPP so you are not accused of hit and run which is a huge hassle IME. The police is only interested if there are injuries 7 days MC/hospitaliz...

Re: Got in an accident - advice?

I rear ended a taxi, totally my fault I know, although very low speed and no visible damage to either vehicle. I have no idea of the claims process in Singapore. Is there anything I should know or do to cover my ass? You should have taken good, detailed photos of the taxi and your vehicle. This is ...

Re: Christmas buffet

I believe most of the top hotel restaurants (Fullerton, Mandarin Oriental, Shangrila, Ritz-Carlton, Hyatt etc. have Christmas brunches with free flow of champagne, wine, soft drinks. These are IMHO very nice places with good buffets - although so far I only attended standard, Sunday brunches. The pr...

Re: DBS Non Existant Fraud Controls

Check out YouTrip. It's a Sg based card aimed at travelers which you top up via a phone app using CC or DC. In the OP's scenario loss is limited to the value on the card. All transactions appear instantly on an App so you see what you are spending when you spend it. Top up takes seconds so you can ...

Hi ,

I would be relocating to Singapore and would like to carry my Desktop computer as a checkin luggage. Wanted to know if this would be fine at the customs?

Re: Renting HDB as a work holiday pass holder

Hi all! I am a student from a British University and I plan to work as an intern in Queenstown for six months from January 2020. I am currently looking for accommodation in Singapore but I have never been to Singapore before. I am just wondering whether you could rent a room (for six months) in an ...

Re: Huber's butchery

A friend recommended that I try Huber's butchery for meats, had been getting from redmart and cold storage, how are Huber's prices compared to say..redmart or cold storage? MUCH to much much higher (depending on what you buy from Redmart), but the quality is usually better to much better too. Just ...
