Full medical checkup

Hi All,

I'd like to have a full medical check up done. It has been recommended now that I'm in my 40s. Can anyone recommend a place to get this done in Singapore and the package they went for?

Thanks!

Re: Everyone I know is leaving or already left

I've also seen this quite a lot, particularly in the past year with Aussies and British leaving. Mainly due to cost of educating the kids then rent. In my 10th year here. PR, married to local, own HDB. I’ll be here for the long term or as long as the dollars work out primarily because it is still th...

Re: Interior wall paint - where to get paint samples?

thanks guys. Will revisit the shops and pick up a catalog. Just happened to search online and this is a good tool http://www.olympic.com/color/paint-color-visualizer . At least helps to rule out the obviously bad colours. Trying to identify the best paints for my unit with limited natural light. See...

Interior wall paint - where to get paint samples?

Hi all,

Any idea where I could get some wall paint samples before committing to a colour and buying a 2L tin? Seems that it is not that easy to find samples in the local shops.

Re: Anybody cycle to work everyday?

The park connector from fort road to marina barrage is due to be open by end of March 2015. In general I have not experienced any issues cycling to work in the east once you reach east coast park. Not so many people walking on the cycle lane in the morning although they did add additional humps some...

Re: Electric razor repair (Uncle shop)

Have you checked with the manufacturer? If they no longer manufacture the specific spare-part, and it's not mass-market enough for there to be generic versions of the component also available then you might be out of luck. --- What part is it? You never know, that might yield further suggestions. Y...

Electric razor repair (Uncle shop)

This is a long shot but does anyone know of an independent shop that repairs electric razors? I'm looking for an hitachi part for an out of production model 8200 for a relative and there is no stock left online. There are a number of small local shops (one man shows) that have been around for years,...

If there was a list of recommendations for expats in Singapore I'm sure one of the top ones would be 'avoid reading x local internet forums/news sources'. You will only drive yourself mad with the power of people in large groups. Avoidence is the best strategy.

Funny topic. A really strange one is when people put a T on the end of some words. Like - Can I help you-t. Who deh: That person over there, I do not know his/her name. Sheh-sheh-she: Cecil street An denn: Replaces the full stop in sentences Sum ting for you: How may I help you? Fuh-boi-ek: Hard-boi...

We went over to Batam last weekend. On the way back we were queuing for immigration at the harbour prior to departure, and since we arrived a bit early we were near the front, maybe 20th or so. We were outside, it was hot and uncomfortable, and there was no seating for the 200-odd manifest/pax. A S...

We had a Koel neighbour for a couple of years. It was horrific and it's calls that would wake you up at 5:30am would be enough to reopen the wounds of Jesus. It's not just a case of being sensitive especially with a newborn in the house that was not impressed. If it is close enough to your house you...

I had a chance meeting with a random guy from Europe who was out cycling and got lost. He was in Singapore for a day or 2 on the way to his final destination. We told me that he has asked someone for directions to the MRT earlier in the day and the person asked him 'have you lost your Porsche'. Har ...

You can cycle on continuous bike tracks from Pasir ris park to fort road. Below is early morning before 8:30. The pasir ris to tampines is quiet until you get to tampines where it is a zombiefest. Tampines to the far side of semei mrt, you are dodging people walking on the bike path or connector loo...

Re: Adapting to the local culture...

Hey there. I've been to Singapore for almost six months now, and I like it so far, I enjoy my job and the city itself. However, I am struggling to adapt and understand the local culture. The first thing my colleagues asked me was what are the best brands and good places for shopping in my home coun...
