Re: Any Eagles up for a gathering in October?

I'm all in favour of not having to scream too, TBH. Previous Eagles gatherings (going back a while now, obviously) were slightly marred for me by not being able to hear what people were saying. Too much loud music in my younger years has left my hearing somewhat impaired. Mind you, after everyone's ...

Re: Any Eagles up for a gathering in October?

Indeed, SMS, great to see that we will hopefully have a fine turn-out. Looking forward to catching up with everyone who can make it to Muddy Murphy's on Friday 13th October.

What time do you guys normally kick off these days?

Re: Any Eagles up for a gathering in October?

Sounds good SMS, can you suggest a suitable venue? (I'm a bit out of touch after nearly four years off the little red dot).

PNGMK, sorry to hear about your health issues, I hope everything works out for the best. Look forward to seeing you.

Any Eagles up for a gathering in October?

Hello folks, long time no post here (until the other day anyway). I'll be paying a brief visit to Singapore in October and wondered whether anyone might like to get together for some refreshment, like in the 'old' days? Friday 13th October (what could possibly go wrong?) is the only Friday that woul...

Re: Update about my PR application

I wonder what ever happened to revhappy?    Got self-lubricated and started to appear under the trade name of WD40. Long time no see Mi Amigo! Haha, yes I remember the transition, although I don't think he likes to be reminded of it. Yeah, long time no se...

V Hotel Bencoolen / MRT works

Hello folks, long time since I was last here and I hope everyone is keeping well. I'll be making a short visit to Singapore in October (first time back since I left at the end of 2013) and I'm currently looking at hotels. Once that is of potential interest is the V Hotel in Bencoolen Street, but I'm...

Re: Expatriation and Repatriation

In a sense, after a few years 'away', I don't think you can really ever go 'back' anywhere because both you and the place will have changed too much. I have (mostly) fond memories of my nearly ten years in Singapore but I'm under no illusion that it would be the same if I were to go back there. I do...

Re: Travel to Amsterdam

Hahaha, hello sailor to you too! Still here on the Mediterranean coast (well someone has to be); had a 'significant change of circumstances' last year but life is good now. So where the devil are you now? p.s. how often do you polish your bell? ;;) It doesn't get polished quite as often as in my you...

Re: Travel to Amsterdam

Just popped in to have a look at the forum and spotted this thread. What a hoot (apart from the pickpocketing incident WD40, sorry to hear about that) and OSOD, sorry PNGMK's newspaper cutting was brilliant.

I miss you guys!

Re: The wife-beater’s defence

In this case, I will quote one of our own, who said this better than I could myself: Neither the Pope nor a bunch of armed thugs have the right to dictate what can or cannot be printed. Personally I don't like some of the imagery used by Charlie Hebdo, but I defend their right to freedom of express...

Re: Democracy or Economic Growth?

I think what this has proved is that the Beijing government can't be trusted, but we knew that already. Plus we have to keep in mind that HK was never democratic under British rule. It's a pity they didn't set up a proper system of elected representation before the handover: that would have made it ...

Re: Someone at Deutsche bank is becoming famous....

The ironic thing about this is that all those irrational, bigoted, racist comments have kind of proved the point he was trying to make.

Re: Changing Jobs on EP

I suspect that when GSM8 stated "current position is not PEP eligible," s/he meant that the current salary level is too low to apply for PEP.

Viz. is one of those Latin expressions, or rather an abbreviation thereof, meaning 'namely'. Nice to see it being used here.
