One bit of advice, if you've had front window tints/film either aftermarket or fitted when you bought the car it will most likely fail. I found out the hard way last Monday when I went for inspection when it only failed on the window tints even with all the mods on my car. Luckily my workshop was j...

I really appreciate the replies. Looks like VICOM has a location near my daughter's school, and I can get my licence renewed there as well. Perfect!

Have a great week!

Where to go for car inspection?

My car is due for inspection and licence renewal. Where is a good place to get my car inspected? I live near Orchard. Any recommendations?

Thank you!

I called the agency we used to hire our helper and asked about how her insurance works. Basically, her insurance only covers accidents, hospitalization and surgery. It does not cover regular consultations with a doctor. So I need to take her to any doctor and pay the full bill. I will take her to my...

Thanks for your reply. I'm happy to take her to my doctor if that's what I need to do. I just wanted to know if there is a clinic that accepts the insurance we have for her, as the bill for my visit was almost $150 (that did include the antibiotics.) And yes, I'll take her today. She's napping now, ...

My maid is sick. Need advice please.

Hello. We've had a flu-like bug running through our household, and our maid is now sick. I had to go to the doctor the other day with the same symptoms and was given antibiotics, which really helped. Obviously, I want to take my helper to a doctor as well. I'm new to Singapore and am wondering if I ...

Anyone with children at Julia Gabriel at Forum?

Hi. I'm thinking of enrolling my son (three years next month) in the Play Nursery program at Julia Gabriel at Forum mall. Anyone have experience there? What did you think? Space ok? Teachers ok? Are the kids happy? I took a tour yesterday, but they were on their spring break, so I didn't get a chanc...

Re: Need some more clarity

What is this bit about the cat burglers. Are they common in Singapore ? Also I believe that most houses have air-conditioning in the window type unit (not central a/c) so does one need to keep the window open a lot ? Do folks use ceiling fans ? Tanusa was it difficult to find a ground floor house ?...

Not that I want to add fuel to the fire, but many people are concerned the window grills are a potential fire trap. Not a problem on a high floor but on lower floors it hampers rescue efforts by neighbours. yes, I agree. the grills in my daughter's room were locked with no key available. We...

Hi Mom2one, those alarms are a good idea. We ended up finding a ground floor apartment. It has two levels, so the landlord was kind enough to put safety grills on the second floor in the kids' rooms. I've been told by several people most landlords will put bars on the windows if you request them. I ...

Do-it-yourself copy center?

Hi. I'm looking for copy center similar to Kinko's in the U.S. I found a place through google called Unimax Copy Centre, but they don't seem to have a web site. Is that similar to Kinko's? I need a place I can make color photocopies myself.

thanks!

Hi. I've met several families that live near the school. I have to say, I'm often wondering why we didn't choose to do that too, when I'm sitting in the car watching them walk to school! There are a few high-rise condo buildings on Lorong Chuan very close. There are also some cluster home options on...
