...How about if I am planning not to stay for a long time in Singapore? Then please don't! It would be very disrespectful to take up PR in our country and get all the benefits that come along with it but then you do not want to contribute to society and live there. PR is for people who want to join...

You can buy a tv license at any SAM machine (presumably also AXS machine), no need for a Singpass. Any household must have a valid tv license. No way around it really (unless you do not have a tv I think).

- Work culture (This one depends on what type of industry you're in. I find Singaporeans generally are quite hardworking, i.e. work till late.) To a certain extend this is a myth though. I have been working from 7.30 to 9pm here in London every day without lunch breaks for the last two years until ...

Well, I think those soft skills you are after can be obtained to a certain degree at seminars. You will have to be careful though, there are a lot of seminars out there that are rubbish and they only want your money. Further those soft skills are usually something that is in your character a little ...

Hi Steve, I am very sorry to hear about this. From what I know you would lose your PR as it is based on you being married to a Singaporean. SE or SMS might know the details but I am pretty sure about that. Depending on your CV and education you might be able to find a job on an employment pass thoug...

Re: Time to change your netbook/notebook into a Macbook!

...Change to a Mac or if you dare not, try it out first with an old notebook/netbook... Running OS X on any other computer than a Mac is against the terms of use, so please do not promote your hacked OS X images. Although I am a happy mac user myself I would recommend to upset windoze users to inst...

Re: snobby caucasians

Hello: We moved into our rather nice condo on East Coast one week ago. It seems that every time I pass anybody caucasian looking, they either turn their head or greet my friendly smile with a blank stare. What is up with everyone? It seems to me that the only nice "friendly" people here a...

Those of you in interracial relationships should wait till you start having babies. EVERYONE will clamour for a look at your kid and the stares become more obvious and are longer! After five years of being with my husband (pre and post marriage), getting stared at here in Singapore is something tha...
