Like I said, lots of people do it. What is the landlord going to do? Terminate the lease? Problem solved.

You could just rent out a room or two if you have any spare. Lots of people do it.

It’s on wikipedia so it must be true…… Can I point out that it doesn’t really make sense to harass someone about their homeland having an average IQ lower than their country of residence. If fact, they may even claim partial credit for this state of affairs. Reminds me of the old joke that New Zeala...

I work for a local company and our "core" work hours are 9.5 per day, with a 1 hour lunch. Offically it is encouraged to consider work-life balance i.e. go home on time if you want to, but culturally the pull is very definately to work late. Management seem genuine about it, but the culture is stron...

Re: removing furniture, I think it depends on the owner and their situation. Of the places I checked out, a couple said yes - but extra $$, some said no, the one I rented said yes, no probs. Negotiate and document before you sign the lease.

I am interested in how this situation turned out? (the original post) Did you get the $20k back? Like many others I have a substantial bond sitting in the landlord's bank account. What if they simply don't have the money when the lease is up? No amount of lawyers letters, or even court orders, will ...

First of all I love the MRT. One of the best things about Singapore. Ever tried catching public transport to work in Australia? wooah. Forget about it! But I thought I would share this one: The other day as I got off at my station I saw a young man in an electric wheelchair slowly putting his way to...

When travelling by taxi I strap our bubs into a Baby Bjorn, nice and tight, facing me, with the neck support up. I then put the seatbelt around me. Saves lugging a questionable quality car seat around and feels quite secure.

I just used OSS Worldwide. Very impressed. Packed up a whole container on 9 January in Melbourne and delivered to my house in Singapore on 30 January, which I thought was pretty good considering the period included the traditional Aussie January shutdown and CNY in Singapore. All at the the agreed q...

Seeking Mother's Group

Thanks to you both for your emails. I appreciate the time you took to reply, and to offer starting places for me and my son to join a group and meet friends and new people. I will give these a try.

Kind regards,

Liz

Seeking mother's group

Hi there, I have just moved from Melbourne, Australia 2 days ago to join my husband who is working here. We have a 10 week old baby son, and I am keen to join a mother's group and meet other mothers and make new friends here in Singapore. I live in Tiong Bahru and have access to the local MRT. Any c...

Seeking mothers group

Hi, I have just arrived in Singapore 2 days ago and have a 10 week old baby son. I am seeking a mother's group in Singapore, as I missed this opportunity in Melbourne, Australia, as I moved here before I could start in a mother's group there. I am living in Tiong Bahru with easy access to the MRT. A...

Hope it is enough - I moving from Melbourne for a bit less and I have a wife and son! Doing it mainly for the experience. As a single 28 year old you should have a blast. Get a copy of the papers on Saturday/Wednesday from the library. From my research I think shared houses are fairly common too, al...
