There are a number of families I know here who have "chinese" speaking maids... so when my helper went back I started to look for one, here is my experience. I spent 2 weeks calling every maid agency I know, all had none. I left my number with every agency I spoke to. Nothing came up in the next 3 w...

Travellingcircusof5.... I know this is a different topic but if you want to keep your kids language up and want to bring your chinese nanny, its possible (though the MOM does not allow for chinese maids), the exception is if they have worked for you and know your kids for over a year. Its worth seei...

Not sure if you want to put in a bit of work but you could assemble a nice gardening kit. - A brown paper bag and a sticker to seal, we usually have tonnes of stickers lying around. Brown bags can be bought at the verge place - small plastic container for the pot, decorated with stickers? - An ice c...

We ride bikes, garden, ice skate, draw, swim, go to playgroups, play lego, board games, bake cakes, experiment with throwing color water into the swimming pool (our own not communal). Am thinking of signing my son up for extra curriculur activities then it could be wushu, football and whatever activ...

We faced that issue 18 months ago, the kids were 2.5 and 4.5 yrs then. They went to a "cosy" farm type school in the southern hemisphere on 7 acres of land with horses, chickens, fish and although it was cosy, they did have 200 students. It was well run and efficient. We sent them to the Chinese Int...

Its kind of dismal here. The alternatives for your child are: 1.) JG 2.) Patschoolhouse, the level of chinese the children achieve are not bad... but you are already ahead if you speak to your child in Chinese. Am not sure what age they accept kids. 3.) the Chinese International school but your chil...

I think there are many OZ English / Singlish / Manglish speakers that can switch back and forth from a really localised english to "proper" english that can be more understoond. As for local schools, my S'porean friends whose kids go there say they spend as much as international school fees on tuiti...

Thanks for the long post. I have two young boys and I think if we stay on here they will have to go, I actually think its good for their development (the world isn't an easy place) but my husband thinks its a waste of time, when they could be traveling or backpacking. Do you think the experience has...
