Given the track records of financial analysts the world over, i don't think it is productive to argue what would have happened had things been done differently. Obviously, if you are going to quote the telegraph , you're going to find they have picked the same cherries as you. I could come right bac...

Those are old-man rants, JR8. You're cherry picking your arguments, and not very accurately at that. I think you'll have to elaborate if you want a discussion to proceed. You know, what you think I'm ignoring, and, what you think I've said that's inaccurate. Oh, and what is an 'old man's rant'? [ap...

I understand the reason why they do it. It doesn't make it in any way acceptable by ANY self-described civilised standards to judge someone in a court of law, then kill them.

Re: Schengen visa

We are planning to visit Greece, Spain and France. Which embassy is more friendly and efficient to get the Schengen visa? :D Usually, they require you apply at country of entry, so if your list is accurate, it will be Greece. I think the rules state either the country of entry or the country in whi...

I know exactly what you mean, JR8, and have felt the same whenever an open-ended stay became close-ended. I'm on the same situation now, and find that I don't feel quite as tolerant any longer.

My condo in Hillview allows dogs, as do the neighbouring condos in this area. I myself have two, a 17kg bitch and a 23kg dog, which I guess is considered large by many accounts. I don't muzzle either when I go on the street and have never been told to. I see people walking up to three adult labrador...

Do make sure your medication is approved in Singapore first! Singapore's approved formulary is considerably shorter than the UK's. Consult the HSA website. Yep. Most doctors have a mini pharmacy so they consult with you, write what medicine you need, and then their pharmacy dispenses it to you - all...

I was prescribed Beconase once and have it at home. I lost heart after three days but will go back and try it. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm popping antihistamines like popcorn. It's driving me crazy. But the temperature is utterly lovely.

This example resolves nothing. You come in, get 90 days. Leave after 3, stay away 2. Come back, get another 90. Leave after 4, stay away 3. Come back, get another 90. Leave after 5, stay away a week. Come back get another 90. You realise they aren't increasing the length of your effective stay by al...

I remember sitting in absolute darkness in the circle line (London tube) on numerous occasions. Average time, 15 minutes. It never made the BBC news.

^^^ +1

I will usually distribute hong baos among security guards, the auntie that empties my bin at the office, a couple of cleaners I see often, the shuttle driver, etc. It's not a big amount, and it acknowledges their often neglected presence and efforts.
