No, no interview. I just submitted the documents to the ICA officer then was told to wait. Then I got the letter telling me I had been unsuccessful. Total processing time was 2 months, which is pretty impressive as it was during Dec and Jan when there were loads of public holidays. The letter didn't...

I just got a PR rejection letter and am wondering what to do next. The letter stated that I have not met the residential requirement, yet I've been here over a year. I really wasnt expecting a rejection and I'm now feeling very insecure, esp with the economy in recession. I'm holding an EP (P2), am ...

Go fly a kite!

Does anyone know where to buy a decent kite? I've seen so many fantastic kites this weekend and with the windy weather set to continue, I'd like to give it a try. Is there a specialist kite shop anywhere?

Fantastic - Thanks for the speedy replies. Yes, I'm an EP holder here and have been for just under a year. Just to clarify, is the ceiling of 4.5k per month both for the employee and employer CPF contributions? How about housing implications? Would a PR have any advantage over an EP holder? Also do ...

Thanks for all the info above - this is just the kind of thread I was looking for. I'm also considering PR, but worried about the drop in disposable income. I'm young, single, a masters degree holder from a good uni and have 5 years work experience, but still find potential employers and recruitment...

Excellent customer service

I've just come off the phone to AXA Insurance and am delighted to say that the lady I was speaking to provided wonderful customer service. Like many expats, I am very quick to point out poor customer service, so thought it would only be fair to recognise this experience! After calling up out of gene...

How to improve the F1 circuit

Most will agree that the F1 was a tremendous success for Singapore. The way it was all put together in such a short space of time and in such a small area (by F1 standards) was phenomenal. The impact it will have on global awareness and tourism, not just during the Grand Prix weekend, but the whole ...

all F1 races are on Star Sports. The Singapore F1 Grand Prix (inc' practice sessions) is on channel 5 as well. There will be various screens around the city showing it live. Many bars along Orchard Rd, Clarke Quay, Chijmes and Boat Quay will also have live coverage. Boat Quay has the added advantage...

Its not about genetics, you can still see a good number of "larger" locals. However, I agree that there seems to be a weath of (unhealthy) eating opportunities which many locals enjoy without putting on excess weight. I notice that a lot of locals will have a hot drink after their meal as well as ho...

Badminton in Sengkang

Does anyone know of a regular badminton group that I could join in Sengkang?

If one does not exist, would anyone like to get together, say, twice a week (evenings)?

I am quite new to Singapore, so have no idea where to look for this kind of thing.

squash courts

Does anyone know of a cheap squash club that I could get involved with ? Central Area or somewhere near a NE Line station would be good. I'm looking to play on weekday evenings.

badminton clubs?

Does anyone know where I could find a good badminton club near Dhoby Ghaut or somewhere near a NE line station? I'm looking to play twice a week 7pm-9pm.

thanks for the tip...I didnt realise Starhub had coverage. I still find it strange that Channel 5 would just go to a break without a warning. Of course, I expect a few breaks in a 4 hour show, but at least cut back to the studio and warn the viewer. Even with breaks in F1 (which I still find annoyin...

Opening Ceremony spoilt by commercial breaks

While the Opening Ceremony was clearly one of the most spectacular events ever staged, I felt the coverage by Mediacorp left a lot to be desired. My main gripe is that there were far too many commercial breaks and all of them came without warning. No theme tune or anything to suggest we will be leav...
