I'm not sure if I should post on this thread or the "exemption from ns" thread but I will try my luck here first. A Singaporean male left SG at around 11 years of age. When he was 14, he went back to SG for a vacation. We were told that we have to get him an I/C and so we did , and an exit permit w...

While I am not an attorney, this is not legal advice , but if you would like to know- Exemption from Singapore NS critical information: 1. You should be coming to 21 yrs old this year, right . 8-) If you don't want to be a S''pore citizen.Just make a trip down to SIRS on the 6th floor to make a request to renounce your sg citizenship. That's it. Just inform them that you want to keep your British citizenship & renounce sg citize...

On the passport renewal form, you are asked to declare that you have not acquired the citizenship of another country, not that you had not entered Singapore with a foreign passport. You can be holding a foreign passport, yet never used it to enter Singapore. That's a world of difference. There is n...

Just to add: Whenever anyone renew their SG passport, they will have to declare in the form whether they did enter SG using another foreign passport. If you put yes, then you are liable for a fine/jail since SG govt doesn't allow dual citizenship. If you put no, then you are giving false declaration...

I am wondering why you want to use your US passport when you could enter on your Singaporean one? Possibly they wouldn't be interested in any other passport you may hold since Singapore doesn't recognize dual nationality. Precisely what I'm trying to say too ??? Unless he wants to show off t...

Sorry, not enough data from you to go by to be able to give a semi-relevant answer. How old are you? When did you leave, how old were you when you renewed your Singapore passport the last time. Are you a male or female. We here are not clones of "Carnac the Magnificent". Sorry...I am 39 years old, ...

In fact, now I sometimes wonder if I'm not playing God by deciding for the boy that he should give up Singapore citizenship when he's 21. I am only going by the rationale that since he doesn't live in Singapore he wouldn't want to be Singaporean. And maybe since he's so lazy he wouldn't enjoy NS. D...

This is a very good example if your sons remain overseas without a exit permit regardless whether they left sg before age 11 yrs.. Your sons will be charge , some even get a jail sentance . His future will be jeopardize. And the worst part is , you still have to serve back 2yrs of NS back to them be...

The last time, any Singapore male citizen who is leaving for overseas will have to apply for exit permit at age 15 yrs. But the new ruling have since changed to 13 yrs after the Melvin Tan (piano case). Good posts 888max. Only thing I would have to change is the reason for the exit permit at age 13...

I thought if they do not have our address than we will not get letters asking for bond, his Singapore passport is expired, or anything informing us for his need to register for NS as 16.5. Suppose we register and they do not give defferment, than what do we do? Would they not allow a renunciation a...
