please, nakatago, I don't want to start the fight with you. I'm refering to your original post and not you yourself. I don't find my question condescending. It's just a question. If you find that patronising, my apology. I'm not a native english speaker. I'm not aware of any subtleties in that quest...

I sense some hostility in your post, or maybe it's just me. It was just "for your information". I didn't force you to do anything with it. There's really no need to justify yourself. So sad. I can tell you are not a very good developer, engineer, or anything technology related with that attitude. Y...

.... Start him off with some Technic sets? (then you go off "borrowing" some pieces when you realize you need more for your robot). You're welcome. Or Mechano set (do they still make it ?? ) :D orbita: You mean not being a techno-freak or techno-psycho-freak and not putting 'unproductive stuff' at ...

I have an NXT 2.0 set. Anyone interested in pooling them for some fun projects? @nakatago: what do you mean by "the toolchain doens't support Linux"? We can always use java (Lejos http://lejos.sourceforge.net/). If you are into those strict realtime requirements, there is an (somewhat) RTSJ complie...

Why do we hate other SEA nations (ie, pinoys, indonesian and etc)? Actually, i don't hate these ppl. But i've noticed quite alot of singaporean blame them for taking away their jobs. I think the blame should be put on the employer for hiring cheap labour rather than anything else. Unfortunately, no...

I used to live in Normanton Park. It's old but you can get a decent flat for under 3.5K. Facilities are standard with security, pool, tennis court. It has the advantage of sitting next to Kent Ridge park. Great for walks. And the blocks are far apart, making it much less cluttered when compared with...

My $0.02 Given the current economic climate personally I would not bet on stability of any organization. One can be forced to look for a job sooner then one thinks. Personally I would look at learning opportunities, location and pay to evaluate any job. I would look at pay on an absolute basis, and...

Billy, the name starts with cal*.

No offence taken, I know I'm sounding like that. And every friend of mine advices against taking the risk.

I'm very much pushed to move based on the vendor's hype.
But stability is also important in this climate, esp. if you have financial commitments

thanks for all of your replies! Yes I'm facing the same dilemma as revhappy and Billy pointed out. On one hand it's the stability of a global investment bank. Lax working hours, huge annual leave, nice perks, nice office (yeah, its' important to me. I find it hard to work in a shoddy work station wi...

investment banking IT prospects

hi, I need a career advice regarding investment banking IT in Singapore. What are the pros and cons of working in a bank compared to working in a technology company making financial software? If you are currently holding a permanent position in a bank, would you risk it to move to a financial softwa...

tenant (signed contract) want to change member inside flat

I am the tenant who signed the contract with the landlord. Now my house members annoyed me so much that I cannot stand them any more. They smoke, talk loudly and were very vulga when I asked them to stop. Do I have the right to ask them to move out? It's my fault to anyhow ask anybody to share the h...

Ambiguous terms in contract

Hi, I have a little problem with my contract. Hope to have some advice. 1. The resignation notice is 2 months or 2 months salary in lieu of notice. 2. No notice is allowed in the first 6 months. Now I want to quit my job and I gave notice 2 months before completing first 6 months. In other words, I ...
