QRM can you let me know the name and address of your Duralit repair man..? I've just managed to melt the cord on my 4 slice toaster and can't seem to find even a local shop who will fix a new cord to it. Doesn't seem that tricky to me, but at the moment I'm risking death with a hatchet job comprisin...

Reef Shoes

My daughter is going on a school trip to Gopeng and needs reef shoes for many of the activities she will be doing. Anyone know where is the best place to get some? Queensway Mall has some Addidas ones, but they're a bit expensive for a kids school trip where they will probably get lost...!

Cocky Maid

My maid has decided she wants to quit 1 year into her second contract with us. She was a good worker and is vague about her reasons, but i assume it has something to do with escaping people who are now coming to my door saying she owes them money? She says she will wait to go until after our holiday...

Evening Dress Search

I've just found out I have to go to a black tie function next week. I've just dug all my old long, evening dresses and of course they are too snug, (that's Singapore living I guess). Anyone know of any places selling evening dresses in at least a UK 10-12, (I'm no Singaporean size 0-2!) that aren't ...

I also use Alvin at Trimmings for rebonding, colouring and cutting, and people are always complementing my hair. I used to go to Sabune Cabane in Tanglin Mall, but finally got tired of the high prices, expensive parking and the fact that my stylist never listened to what I wanted!! My only gripe is ...

If you know your prescription, then find the frames you like in an opticians in Singapore and then go online (smartbuyglasses.com have Uk and Asian webpages) and order them there for about 1/3 the price. They send them from Hong Kong with free delivery and insurance in about 5 working days. I saved ...

Tell them you're just a tourist passing through. The only problem with this is if you want to go back regularly. it's rarely a good idea to sign up for these things. If the business tanks, it takes your cash with it, and you are very unlikely to see any of it again. They, of course, just start up a ...

Lamps

Can anyone recommend any lighting stores that sell interesting, contemporary table lamps.

All I can find is a load of old tat, or hugely overpriced stuff. I really don't want to use the usual expat regulars, (Shophouse, Design Intervention, John Erdos, Originals etc).

We briefly looked into that when we were looking at houses and were told for a modest size approx $500 a month, not sure how much to install tho? Another option I was told is that you buy the pool, they install then at the end of the contract they buy back from you at a reduced price (assuming one ...

Try Sabun Cabane in Tanglin Mall. Their main colourist Wai is very good. Is she good? I have tried her but not really up to my expectation. Once had a bad experience at Sabun Cabane and the people there are rude. if you were telling the truth, you would know that 'Wei' the colourist at Sabune Caban...

Meat Wholesaler

Does anyone know the name of that meat wholesalers in Jurong that sells the great meat at fab prices.
My friend told me, but I've forgotten the name, and now she's in some village in Spain for the Summer and I can't contact her. I've got a big BBQ on Saturday and I need to find it pronto!!

I'm unsure if you mean my daughter should learn piano instead of maths? If, as I suspect, you are again airing your views on expats wanting services provided by other expats, then unless you are prepared to spunk up the cash on maths lessons for my daughter, SHE can choose who she feels more comfort...
