So, frankly, we are being shafted by our own constitution and because of that constitution, the perpetrators of 9/11 can rub our noses in it for eternity, what they did to us, and we can't do anything about it. Especially seeing we have a muslim president who can't help but try to help his brothers...

Death... Sacred?? Hmmm.... Let's see, the Dutch probably buried more than a few citizens there well before it was American, and the British too and the Lenapes before them. All buried sons and daughters there. 'Desecration' as you call it in not new to the island of Manhattan. So your argument is to...

how about building more synagogues in KL, tehran, mogadishu or kabul? Great idea, but in the mean time the US shouldn't be looking to Malaysia, Iran, Somalia, Afghanistan etc.. as examples of religious tolerance, or regimes we wish to emulate. We already have the freedom of religion guaranteed to a...

SAIS is new and has an 'American-style' curriculm. If I had any choice, I would get my high schooler into an established school colleges will recognize. There's so much at stake in those final school years.

I can think of a few more things. Here's what's usually in my suitcase in August for me and the kids, because they are much cheaper in the US or not available in Singapore: Bedlinens, for sure, Towels, Warm weather clothes for the year, Shoes, shoes and more shoes, Books, Spices, Giant bag of Nestle...

Definitely take Yeap (the school bus, there's a link on the SAS website). Probably a shorter commute and they'll make friends on the bus. Very, very few SAS kids take public transport, I literally don't know any. Their days are so long, no need to add to it. There's also the added bonus of the activ...

Our dogs and cats are just fine here, no worries. I'd say their quality of life in Singapore is higher by a few measurements then if we lived a typical 2 income life in the US. We did leave behind a 12 year old Maine Coon cat when we moved to Singapore originally, but for most cats & dogs, Singa...

If it were me, I'd go to COSTCO and load up on all over=the-counter items I use and health & beauty stuff I know I can't find in Singapore as well. In fact, that is what I do every year while I'm home. Sunscreen in the US is much better and cheaper than it is in the US and hydrocortizone and ant...

Loud traffic noise from the CTE (as carolynw noted), drunk/bar leftovers if you're down the hill toward Orchard. Rats are a problem too. If you are on the quiet side, it can be wonderful.
