Re: Entering country while waiting for Employment Pass

If your child does not have a student Pass, it is likely that the school will not allow your child to start school until you have your EP.

Re: School Advice

Go for AISS. I think it has some of the best opportunities for sport. The largest schools have the most sport. It is caring and will give you support and you will meet lots of other parents and it will make the transition to an AUS school easier when you return. It is easy to get 'penmanship' tutori...

Re: Local school for expat kids

There is a third option - it may be cheaper to bring a relative to look after and school the children. Depending on where you are from, they do not necessarily need an EP, they can come in and out and do visa runs etc. Alternatively, you could see an agency about a short term maid contract. This is ...

Re: Company paying lower than stated EP salary

This is a reality of many EP's. Sorry but it is. IT is very common. The only issue that arises really is when it comes to tax time. You must insist that your employer pay tax on the $5k/mth for you. And sometimes, as they come to know and trust you, the income goes up to the full amount in any event...

But you say you have signed a lease in company name - so you have accommodation? I assume your own company is sponsoring you? Other Directors?

Re: Cheap Book Printing In Singapore? Printing Plants?

No good printers left in Singapore. It has been a quiet govt initiative to move all left (except 2) to Malaysia, China etc. The two printers left print the newspaper and magazines and quote very high prices to anyone outside this fold. I know it is an old thread...but I'm an old ....

I have 5 all local schools. We have gone from P1 right through to JC. They will not admit to P6 (the year they are in when they turn 12) but unless your child has accelerated in the UK, it is unlikely that their maths (and yes even english) level would be ready for P6. Best to put him/her in P5 and ...

Singapore. Singapore also has free state schools. They teach in english and are VERY good. I would chose a local state school over an international school.

Most people who do this sort of work do it on tourist visas. This is the standard. It is unlikely that there would be any other visa that they would qualify for as they do not intend to be resident in Singapore and they would not fall under the 'entertainment' visa option.

The UK photo card licence really does not mean anything - you can not even rent a car with it in the UK - you always have to show your paper licence. It is your paper licence that is the important thing and this does not expire. So you are still a licenced driver. you can ask the DVLA for a copy of ...

Food has got progressively bad. Over the space of about the last five years it has got salty, oily and sugary. Virtually impossible to order food in food courts unless the aunties and uncles know you and know that you want less salt, msg, oil and sugar.
