Re: stamped 30days in passport and embarkation but flight details was written in e card

A normal tourist would not be treated as you have so they suspect something. You have been flagged so they will take a close interest in you from now on. Play it safe, use your return ticket. Expect future travel to Sg to be problematic if you don't. I'd say better to meet your relatives elsewhere.

Re: getting a job as newly married to Singaporean spouse - Letter of Consent

Could you elaborate a bit on not needing an LOC to get a job? Because I thought LOC was a requirement from MoM for LTVP-DP users. Or did you mean asking for employment via EP instead of LOC? You apply for jobs without a LOC. The LOC happens after you get the job and the employer arranges that. SMS'...

Re: Which job offer would you take?

The American job because of 3, 4 and 5. As you say it's for a limited time. Improve your technical skills, enjoy the work life balance and use the prestige of the US firm to land yourself another role when you relocate.

Re: Has anyone gave up US citizenship to become a Singaporean?

If you do a Google search all the headlines are about Americans renouncing their citizenship in record numbers. But look at the numbers and they are tiny, less than 6,000 in 2016. No idea how many of those end up in Sg.

Re: Network Cable - CAT6

Shape won't matter, it's just the wire configuration to cover different routing options, e.g flat would go under carpet better than round.

passive aggression, defensiveness, upmanship, arrogance, sweeping things under the carpet and the general inability to collaborate and work alongside others. In short, they are not the easiest group of people to get along with. That very succinctly sums up Singaporeans. Then I meet someone who brea...

Re: Let's wildly speculate about who hacked Singhealth and how incompetent the response has been.

I have a certain amount of sympathy for the intrusion, it's difficult to remove the human element. I get several malicious phishing emails a week. Easy to spot and we have a mechanism to route to a security group who deal with them and also feedback. The same group send out periodic test mails, agai...

Re: Let's wildly speculate about who hacked Singhealth and how incompetent the response has been.

How can the hackers monetize the data - is there enough info to be useful and is the quantity large enough? Numbers are pretty small by recent standards. If they can't then you look to who else might be interested in it, which is where your State actors may come into play. However from the one lette...

Re: Singapore elderly?

A number of my parent's friends are now going into retirement villages. They pay for it, it's voluntary and there is usually a wait list. Knowing some of them it was a bit of a surprise to me given their independence. But it does seem quite the good life, friends, outings, numerous parties and all t...

Re: Singapore elderly?

It is difficult to look after the oldies. If you have the money to send your old parents to the old folks home then its a good thing. Sadly but there's tons of old and penniless oldies around in Singapore. It's not that difficult. A family can employ a carer for a fraction of what it would cost out...

Re: Advice on Visit Pass

... in a country where you can see absolutely everything worth seeing in 30 days (actually in two weeks). More like 3 days 8-) As SMS says the visa run is a bad idea. My daughter came here with no onward ticket. She used Sg as a base for travel in the region which included the odd 1 day trip to Mal...
