Re: PR approval chances-HELP

And putting the applications on line makes the process more mechanistic and better lends itself to automation. It's simply a criteria match. If you get a match then a low level clerk checks the documentation provided, all others get an automated rejection email. If the documentation is in order then...

Re: Interesting question on multi-entry visit visa extension

I based my comments on my parent's experience a few years back. They extended and were able to come and go. They didn't have any issues but the '5 day' thing might not have been around when they were here. If I'm reading it correctly they need to stay out of Sg for 5 days. Just extend your NY celebr...

Re: Interesting question on multi-entry visit visa extension

Hello there,.. my parent-in-laws (indian passport holder) will be in SG on the usual 30 day visit pass. I am planning to extend them by another 30 days which is straight forward. 1. During the extension period (ie 30th-60th day) can we plan a 2 day visit to batam ? I dont have any intention of visa...

Re: An Interesting Take on Singapore Growth

I'm in the finance industry. I don't see any improvement in my company at least. We continue to decrease the Sg headcount. Roles are moved to cheaper locations and that process seems to be getting more aggressive. Learning nothing from history, the early adopters are insourcing now. We are also jump...

Re: New Criteria for PEPs w.e.f. 1/12/2012

No issues. Took less than a week for approval. Then had to cancel the PEP online. Was on a paper pass for a couple of days then a visit to MOM for fingerprints and photo. Card delivered about a week later. So you could apply now and cancel your pass just before expiry. Once the pass is cancelled you...

Re: New Criteria for PEPs w.e.f. 1/12/2012

Seeing this thread reminded me I was one of the last to apply for a 5 year PEP. I submitted my application on the last few days then stretched out my in principle approval so I may end up being the very last person holding a 5 year PEP =D> . I've just moved back to EP after 5 years on PEP. I applie...

If you haven't already you could try posting on Singapore Expat Wifes, it's a Facebook group I think.

I know someone who was placed quickly when her employer advertised her details there.

Re: Electrical Apprenticeships in Singapore for 16-18 year olds?

ITE / Poly :D Though very few want to take up the very unglam job ;) Should have known that - unglam. :D There have been a few articles recently in the Mail Online comparing tradesmen to graduates in the UK. Tradesmen have work and are making a good living. Grads have debt and usually lowly paid jo...

For interest how do they train electricians here? Do they? Don't think I've met a local one, all have been from the sub-continent, or Malaysia.

Re: How can i create Backup of my Hotmail account ?

Or create another email account, Google for example, and copy your email over. Then set up a rule that forwards all new mail to your other account. That way you end up with 2 copies on different servers and an automatic backup process.

Re: What's the average lifespan of a listing to rent?

Moving back? :D A place I was in, older but comfortable, was on the market for nearly a year before the LL gave up and tried to sell. He was an idiot, would have stayed but he tried to increase the rent in a falling market. So I would think older properties hang around longer than more recent offeri...

Re: Living in Singapore for a year, starting to miss my previous relocation alot. Help?

When I first joined this forum there were a few threads talking about the novelty of living in Sg wearing off. If memory serves me correctly it was 1-2 years for most people. After 10 years I still like it here but it will never be home. Would love to try Jakarta. Think I'd fit in there very well. :)
