I'm still a guest here on this forum ... pardon my intrusion. But I just have to put in my two cents worth and can't bear to see other fellow business entries being taken for a ride ... especially so when they are foreigners. I bear the same sentiments with start-up companies when I entered 3 years...

Maggie, please tell us more. Medical alowance? Accommodation allowance? What are your needs housing-wise, education-wise? You know, taking a paycut like that is never really a good idea. Are you going to be able to go back up just as easily when you return to UK? Perhaps you should lock that into yo...

Tim, I used an agent. And I was initially apprehensive too. But the ones I used (they're a guy/gal team) were very good, professional and effective. They even went the extra mile to get me an exceptional deal, even though this effectively cut their commission. I'm moving in September 1st. If you lik...

Hi Curacao, good to hear that you are spared from it. The resentment is - from all I heard and experienced - really targeted towards white caucasians US, EU. I presume you dont have this typical caucasian look - Well, I'm 1.86 m, ash-blond curly hair, blue eyes. I guess I'm about as Caucasion-y as ...

To NBB: Read somewhere that you're from Curacao originally and it piqued my curiousity as I presently live in the Caribbean myself-- Jamaica. Did a short stint in Barbados several years ago as well. Gosh its a small world after all when you go on an expat board from Singapore and meet someone posti...

The racism might take milder forms in Spore (laughing, giggling, poking fun at caucs). But the sheer number of Sporean who get involved in that form of racism on a daily basis is shameful. There is hardly a day without Sporean grinning silly at you, giggling about you or laughing at you. Its silly ...

fymk, I can sympathise. I had a lot of Asian mates back in London. Caucs can be so vicious without any provocation whatsover. It scared me and I'm a white dude. I'm sure that if the majority of Asians realised how awful some of their brothers and sisters were slagged off in their face while ...

Jeff, Three hurdles to take: 1. Singapore is not the expat magnet it used to be. Most of those positions you've spotted are being filled by your ( much less costly) colleagues from India and the like. 2. Furthermore, its IT segment is no longer the hip hotbed of the 90's. Nowadays Biotech is its ind...

I don't know JP, If I were Singaporean, I'd be feeling a fair amount of pride too. Just go back 50 years, 40 or 20 even, and see what Singapore has accomplished in this time. And is accomplishing as we speak.

I say chapeau!
