Re: Noisy neighbor most nights until 7-8am, what can we do?

Where is this Condo? Is this Geylang? Asking because want to avoid issues like that for investment properties...

Re: DBS Vickers

Why even put crypto and robos into a same sentence? Didn’t want to make separate posts as one claimed to not trust robos and rather pick stocks themselves. Another claimed to never touch cryptos at all. Just killing two birds with one stone in one post. I am aware they are different. People claim a...

Re: DBS Vickers

If robos and crypto were that terrible, interest and use of them would have fizzled out long ago. But nope, people are still using/buying them. Why even put crypto and robos into a same sentence? I wouldn't mash crypto and robo together at all. Robo is just a package for a stock market based invest...

Re: Do expats here eat durians?

I like durian, not all varieties but red prawn and those that are easy to peel from the seed are the best. I do like it in all the forms except for heavily processed = durian puffs or hot pancakes / pandan waffles with fresh durian - is a yes, chocolate with durian flavored filling is a no :)

Re: Studio units

Rocketboy: So true... I think have to avoid Geylang location as there's a lot of uncertainty and banks may not give out loans on houses located on certain Lorongs. I saw some in Sengkang area...rents are about $1.7-2k...sale prices about $500k...because the sq ft is so tiny, I am not sure how much ...

Re: Studio units

Quite often I contemplate about the same question as above. No-one I know invests in this kind of condos, there is zero appreciation, same units in Geylang are for sale at a same price for the past 5 - 6 years. ETF would give you x3 on annual returns. But people do buy those anyway, I wonder why

Re: PR Approved 2021

I applied multiple times, without an agency, with an agency, with reference letters, I wrote a poem to ICA once back in the day when you could attach motivation letter or something. Consistently negative outcome. But I keep trying, its like TOTO, plus there are many more things to try, get pregnant ...

Re: Condo Rental, how fixed are advertised rent?

up to 20% vs advertised price. Pick a listing you like, then go URA - "Rental contracts of private residential properties" and see last transacted for that condo. That of course doesn't mean that you wouldn't get the higher rental or lowest rental in the same condo because each case is unique. Facto...

Re: PR Approved 2021

@Rocketboy, did you apply for the PEP as soon as you qualified for the same based on salary criteria or you had to wait for sometime. ( I mean we can apply for PEP just after one month of joining a new organization on the eligible salary?) I saw you asked the same question in another post, don reme...

Re: PR Approved 2021

Not real sure why anybody would apply for a PEP if on an EP and had already applied for PR. Doesn't make any sense. There are many more colors than black and white you know ;-) and situations could be different. For example - you are on EP and you plan to resign or you know you are getting retrench...

Re: PEP processing time (personal employment pass)

Update - got my PEP approval at 1AM at night of June 5th, I did call at the end of the day of June 4th and got second case number and second expedite request. Review took exactly full 11 weeks and few extra hours. I am guessing I will need to notify ICA about change of employer and change of pass in...

Re: PEP processing time (personal employment pass)

Hi Everyone, new on this forum, also want to share my timeline: As of today it has been exactly 11 weeks and still pending. I called MOM on May 21st asking to expedite, was given a case number and was told "call us back in 3 working days if no outcome", called again today, gave the case number and w...
