Re: Lunch box recommendations

Yep, I find it almost insulting, these little plastic cups… even McDonald’s used to use them when you ask for free water. After a while, I just asked them, please… give me the water in a normal drink cup (for crying out loud!) and they will, if somewhat grudgingly. I have such disdain for these lit...

Re: Lunch box recommendations

Definitely the latter, some locals can be so dense when it comes to having a sense of humor.

Re: Art pieces from local artist...where can I find them?

Not trolling at all, you’re absolutely right. The government has made its focuses clear- the lack of funding for the arts tells you all you need to know.

So far the US is part of the VTL though.

Re: Vaccinated Travel Lane flights from London; feedback please

Apparently around 250 travelers arrived via the VTL yesterday, perhaps one of them is active on the forum and can answer. I will say that I’m ecstatic about this, the easing of requirements makes it so much easier (and cheaper) to travel as a family.

Re: Furniture Delivery to Condo

No. If the furniture items are small enough to fit in the lift with room to spare, you don't need to worry about padding the lift. Depending on your management’s policy you might need to notify them of the delivery though.

Re: SCDF ambulances are under strain

It's only recently that Ambulances (and only SCDF) were legally permitted to run red lights. That is crazy! I guess that’s why I’ve often heard it said here that getting in a taxi is often a better bet if you need to get to the hospital fast. US ambulance drivers are all trained to do whatever it t...

Re: SCDF ambulances are under strain

Btw, SGH have a non-deferral policy, even if they are overloaded. One of the top cardiologists practices at Sengkang - less cardiologists so he gets to do more cases ($$$) So if you have an AMI, consider Sengkang for short waiting time to the cardio Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I’ve heard of ...

Re: SCDF ambulances are under strain

SCDF do not transport already dead people, the police coroner and casket services do that. Every patient in an ambulance is assumed to be alive at the start of the journey but DOA does happen ("flatline") That’s my point, the point of the ambulance is to get live people to the hospital ASAP so they...

Re: Will having a child guarantee LTVP?

Congrats on your pregnancy, but I’m not sure it will do anything about your credit score, the ICA certainly won’t overlook it. You can try seeing an MP at a meet the people session and state your case, but I’m not sure what he will be able to do for you.

Re: Buying a HDB or Condominium?

In the past, old shophouses or terraces used to house 10-15 workers. That has changed due to covid. The rules states that it has to be way less, per unit of dwelling. Some demand for additional dwellings there, to satisfy regulators. In the past, 300k Malaysian workers used to cross the border dail...

Re: Buying a HDB or Condominium?

Malcontent, thanks for that. It is nothing terrible then and if the property has made a profit quite manageable. For buying a private property here you may be able to borrow the deposit against your substantial stock portfolio at a good rate (the stocks become collateral). However I think we all kn...

Re: Anyone headed to the USA for Thanksgiving?

Hi, my family is thinking of taking a trip down right after my daughter’s A levels, won’t be in time for thanksgiving though. We’re from South Florida too! Miami specifically, whereabouts are you from?
