Re: Farrer Park

Hello All, I am looking for resale HDB near Farrer Park, I have a few questions regarding this neighborhood: 1. How is the safety in this area? There was a riot in 2013 2. Does it get noisy in the weekends? 3. Other than Farrer Park MRT, I realized there are very little public bus routes in this ar...

Re: Has your helper been vaccinated?

Oic, so i think that's the reason why..my helper's cousin got vaccinated perhaps because she's in her 40s. while mine is still in waitlist. Those aged 12-39 could register for the vaccine on 11th June, you pr helper should be no exception, don’t see why she would be on the waitlist. Because the lat...

Re: Impulse purchase

Not generalising, just talking about Indian families. If u look at Philippines or Korea, women manage the house even if not working. I am not judging anyone here. Just saying from my experience. I have met indians who claim they have never been to cinema in Sg in 10+ years. While I can appreciate t...

Re: DBS Vickers

The tax trap is this.. let’s say your dad is a US person but your mom is not, his US situated assets will pass to your mom tax free if they are within the allowable exemptions, but if she doesn’t liquidate those US situated assets and they eventually pass to her children... then her estate tax will...

Re: Drunk driver jailed

Can someone please explain this? This POS kills someone while driving and speeding drunk and leaves the scene. He got just 6 years jail. The rope seems a more fitting punishment. This article says "For killing Ms Ocampo, he could have been jailed for up to 10 years." So why wasn't he? https://www.a...

Re: Drunk driver jailed

The real oddity, I feel, is why the victim's family gets nothing. How come his punishment doesn't include some form of monetary compensation? Sure, give him x number of years in jail to ruminate on his sins. But when he comes out, he shouldn't be back to his normal life whilst the victim's family w...

Compensation to the family may come from a separate lawsuit.
I doubt the family even has the finances to engage a lawyer and enter a legal battle.

Re: Starhub no longer attractive

I subscribed to Paramount+ (30 days free) and renewed my VPN subscription today ($27.99 for 12 months) which took a good 45 minutes to get working via the dedicated VPN router. I don’t plan to keep Paramount, but we’ll see. I always seem to buy a year of VPN, then go a year without it. For me, it’s...

Re: Starhub no longer attractive

HBO has some good Original Content. If the show interests u, subscribe . I did it for GoT. I’m interested in Euphoria as well, but I just am not sure that I need a third streaming service subscription (I’m currently subscribed to Netflix and Disney+). I just wish there was one sweeping option that ...

Re: Has your helper been vaccinated?

I heard some are already vaccinated... Ours got her first jab 2 weeks ago. The only thing that makes me slightly anxious is that they lengthened the time between each jab, now the time between each jab is 6-8 instead of 3 weeks. Although I guess it’s important they did this so more people could rec...

Re: Has your helper been vaccinated?

Ours got vaccinated in April May, a few weeks after myself. She's 47, so got her shots in same age group as myself. I don't think there is any difference or discrimination in vaccination policy, all residents in Singapore got the same chance to get vaccinated, but it's up to them to register. That’...

Re: Has your helper been vaccinated?

Glad that they're vaccinated slowly but surely... at times they hang around quite often during their off days. It’s so important that they get vaccinated ASAP, particularly because the congregate in large groups during off-days. I’m sure this is less prevalent now with the imposition of new restric...

Re: Has your helper been vaccinated?

Mine's been registered for a couple of weeks, but I think priority is being dealt out like it is was for locals, in age brackets. My helper has a couple of older burmese FDW friends who have already gotten theirs, but my helper in only in her mid 30's so is still waiting. I think the tipping point ...

If you’ve been officially exempted due to medical reasons, I don’t see how it can affect your chances.
