Interesting! These financial advisors do not even have any proper qualifications but sure they know how to scheme!
The farther away it is from Singapore, the worse the deal will be. That Scottish widows and orphans fund at 13 percent won't look quite as shiny up close.

Re: PR REP renewal

So... you are neither "permanent" nor "resident", is that right? Why would you need PR?

Re: Misleading claims by Immigration Consultancies for PR/SC Applications

I've had a few people add me on LinkedIn and then try to set up meetings to push services such as financial planning, investment, insurance and so called PR consulting 🙄 There is an active expat business card collection network in Singapore. You know that business card you gave to the attractive wa...

Re: FDW called MOM and complaint

Generalization works to a certain degree is what I said. No! Generalization does NOT work to a "certain degree". Upon which specific individual are you going to heap your generalizations? Sounds like you are heaping generalizations on Indo maids with your statement, "Indonesian “fdws” on the other ...

Re: FDW called MOM and complaint

Tbh generalizations work to a certain degree. Especially with reference to the bell curve, and outliers being at the ends of either tails. You are stereotyping. You assume that because some of a given class have a certain attribute, then all must have it. This is bigotry. This is racism. And it is ...

Re: FDW called MOM and complaint

You are guilty of maid abuse. Why didn't you give her a bank account. You are not permitting her to manage her own financial affairs, and MoM specifically requires that maids have control over their own finances. Why do you cut off internet? She is an adult and can make her own decisions about what ...

Re: No SGD income with e-pass

It doesn't matter where your income is sourced from. It doesn't matter what bank it is paid into. It doesn't matter what currency it is paid in. If you live in Singapore, you are tax resident for Singapore taxes and all money you received is considered earned income in Singapore, and it is all taxab...

Re: Looking for Affordable Places to Shop

Quite helpful thread for me. How so? Mal, he's gone, as are all four of his posts. Oddly enough, he comes from your neck of the woods in the US. Or at least the ISP he's using is. Indeed. "Robert Collins 446" sets off my spidey sense that we have a spammer. It's just "that kind of name".

Re: difficulties staying in a job for long in singapore (too much politics)

The corporate setting here (and actually most parts of the world) is filled to the brim with stupid and incompetent aholes and crazy women. It's the truth whether u like it or not and whether u are part of it or not. I worked in multiple corporate environments in Singapore over the course of eight ...

Re: difficulties staying in a job for long in singapore (too much politics)

A carpenter or plumber may be paid like 100k in the big cities of Australia. But I can't drive around sawing tables or digging faeces all day. It's just I am not made for blue collar work. Sounds like you're not made for any kind of work. After all, you've failed at "executive jobs", you seem to ge...

Re: Mandarin expresure exchange English

A good game is to take a phrase or sentence and run it through Google translate, using four or five different languages in sequence, and see what comes out on the other end. English to Spanish The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog. El veloz zorro marrón saltó sobre el perro perezoso. Spanish...

Re: Tax resident and double tax for working remotely in Singapore

I assume that the HK company your friend works for remotely has no legal presence in Singapore and does not service customers in Singapore, otherwise, your friend would require a work permit to work for the company. Your friend's residency status is based solely upon where he lives and works. If he ...

Re: Part-time job on DP

Therat's post accurately describes the requirements to live in Singapore and work for a Singapore company (or yourself, which has its own set of problems to work out). Obtaining a work pass for part time work could be difficult since passes also include salary minimums which are expressed in dollars...
