Re: [Help Needed] Preloved Children's Clothes. Yay or Nay?

When we were kids, we often wore hand-me-downs or hand-me-downs from cousins a year or two older. But back then, people weren't quite so prideful. In fact, we also did that with our kids and it's been passed down to my children who are now parents of a 1.5, 3 & 6 year old. SMS - we were so poor tha...

Re: On legality of working in Singapore while on a paid sabbatical leave

Two different questions here and the answers to either could depend on the other question. In theory, because earnings earned while outside Singapore are not taxable or reportable in Singapore, It would appear to be a moot question. Having a EP in Singapore just means you cannot work for another Sin...

Re: Shooting at US grocery stores

Rob, I have no issue with stricter gun laws as long as they are uniformly applied across all states and do not ban gun ownership outright for the obvious reasons. All my guns were registered and serial numbered and recorded by the local police departments (albeit some long owned but at least account...

Re: Applying Citizenship for the existing

First of all, Nowadays, SGC for PR's completing NS in no longer a given. Which if one thinks about it, it makes good common sense on the government's part. Why give SGC to an NS man if, for instance, he spend a good portion of his NS in trouble with authority and was a general bad egg? Wouldn't make...

Re: Shooting at US grocery stores

To be totally honest here. While I've never used any of my guns to shoot or even threaten another human being, as a civilian I have shot and killed one person at close range (about 2 metre) with a sawed-off doubled-barreled 12 gauge shotgun loaded with double-00 buckshot and damn near decapitated hi...

Re: Shooting at US grocery stores

The problem, as a former farmer with a then rather large collection of various firearms (all hunting firearms with the exception of the pistols of which maybe half had significant memories attached to them (like my Colt 1911 military issued sidearm. None of them were ever used on another human being...

Re: Shooting at US grocery stores

My definition of an 'assault' type of weapon would also include any former military issue rifle as opposed to a 'hunting' rifle. Hence an old M-1 Carbine or even a 1906 Springfield would also be considered as would the M-14 which was what military rifle I was issued in the NAM. The M-16 was just bei...

Re: Shooting at US grocery stores

I like the fact that in Switzerland, virtually every household has at least one gun of the assault rifle style. And kids are taught how to shoot at a very early age (girls as well now). There are strict gun laws, but with roughly 25% of the gun owning population doubling as police or military duties...

Re: Shooting at US grocery stores

Always remember, if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. I wouldn't expect you to understand this, however. It's easier if you only have 500 sq/km to control and no hinterlands. and only 1.887 m population like when the country was given it's independence in 1965.

Re: Absence from Singapore

Thanks, why you think so? Because, what they care about are folks like the clowns from the subcontinent who get PR, then immediately return back to India to work and live for 3 of their 5 year "PR". Traveling for a few weeks, or even a few months, while retaining a Singapore residence, is a far dif...

Re: Ergonomic chair

I don't have aircon so Secretlab is out of the question. too bloody hot and more expensive than the Ergotune as well. The ergotune has open weave mesh backing and seat so is pretty cool. I have a friend with one and I've tried it out. it also has something like 11 or 14 adjustment points and with a ...
