Re: Looking for advice on applying for jobs in SG as a foreigner
Why don't you just get married and then you can get an LTVP based on your local SO if (unsure of the pronoun to use) is SGC. :-k Other than that, you will be hard pressed to find a job here unless you have heaps of experience (e.g. 5~10 years in the industry you are trying to enter. Even then it's g...

Re: REP renewal eligibility
Not an issue. You cannot get an REP unless you have a job if your PR is PTS. This isn't a real issue except for the fact that you cannot leave Singapore without the REP else you are telling ICA at the immigration counter that you are giving up your PR. But you can theoretically stay in Singapore the...

Re: PR chance
^^^^  Forty is the usual age to become spinster who will never marry or reproduce. She still has hope till then albeit it gets dangerous for 1st pregnancies after the age of 38 so she better hurry. and yeah, lot286, she's calling it close and ICA may think that she will be a spinster aunt...

Re: PR chance
Wait until after your 1st EP renewal (usually 24 months). Then more than likely a shoe-in. Don't jump the gun as is just makes ICA wonder why. All the right boxes are ticked except duration of employment in SG.

Re: PR approval chances 2022
You have to get a PEP while employed. All cards are off the table if you are unemployed. If you subsequently become unemployed AFTER gaining the PEP, then you have up to six months available, however, let's say you lose your job on 1 Jan and don't find a job until 1 July. You will need to earn a min...

Re: PR Approval Probability 2021
In theory as the patent was granted after the application was submitted, it normally wouldn't be useful. However, in this instance, I would give it a shot anyway as it cannot hurt but may well help. I say this only because of the link to things the government is looking for and if it's your name on ...

Re: Is there a RETIREMENT AGE in Singapore?
If they terminate you without a valid, provable reason, you can take them to court (MOM Court - no lawyers allowed). It's possible to get 1 month's pay for each full year of service employed. I had to go to the court on one occasion for my old company. I already told the owner the consequences if it...

Re: Is there a RETIREMENT AGE in Singapore?
Is there a retirement age? If so, what is it? What is the official age to retire in Singapore? 63 years The minimum retirement age in Singapore is 63 years From 1 July 2022, the retirement age has been raised to 63, and will gradually be raised to 65 by 2030. This means that your employer can't sug...

Re: PR abuse
I don't think PR abuse is a thing. The government totally controls who is given PR and SC and can remove PR for any reason (they don't do this though except for criminals and those who are doing something against public policy such as the striking pilots and the academic who is influencing for a fo...

Re: PR approval chances 2022
If you try to apply using the PTS scheme you will likely get rejected, even if you have the baby tagged on your application. You will probably be rejected based on quota issues at the very least. You need to apply under the Family Ties scheme with the husband acting as the sponsor. That way you have...

Re: PR approval chances 2022
We’ve since bought an appartment (closing in June) and are considering re appealing post transaction completion (we’ll be moving in and staying there as well). The other option we’re considering is for me to apply through the PTS. Any recommendation from the experts here on how best to approach thi...

Re: Online grocery
My favorite supermarket is closed up now. I used to always shop at Yaohan Thompson Plaza. Decent prices and excellent quality & variety. The NTUC there also not bad but too far away now that I've gone carless for the last 25 years. Some NTUC's like the one down Orchard area are good but prices sligh...

Re: Online grocery
Bit of a reach but I occasionally use the one at Hougang 1 but size & selection wise much of the same. It's only 1 km away but not as useful as the rest of the stores in there aren't of much use. NEX has a better selection/mix of other useful places as well. I also have a neighbourhood NTUC about 5 ...

Re: Online grocery
Fresh produce/meats/poultry/seafood always buy fresh. Unless it is processed and frozen. I prefer fresh and the ability to see what I am actually buying.
