Re: Foreign Graduate finding job in Singapore

Forget it. You are not going to get a work pass to work here without at least two years of experience. Even then, you will probably be undercut by Local or Regional Engineers with similar abilities AND the ability to speak at least one of the local languages in addition to drive since the 2015 Gener...

Re: Cancelling EP IPA and applying for a new one? Will I be blacklisted?

eHave you told your impending new employer you will have to cancel your IPA before they can apply for a new EP for you? If you have, I'll expound on that in a bit. First you have to ask your current 'new' employer to cancel the IPA. Now if you led him on during the interview and/or he really wants/n...

I've worked in Malaysia, but never lived there. I'm from the Eastern Shore of Maryland on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay. Old dairy farmer turned pilot, diver and for the past 20 years, HR Manager.

Re: Employment Pass Renewals - 2018

To bring in your wife on a DP you must be earning at least $6K/mo in order to apply for a DP for her. You cannot sponsor a DP for your parents though. If you are making at least $12K/mo THEN you can apply for a DP for your parents, but in no case can you apply for DP for you in-laws (wife's parents)...

Re: Learn to shuck oysters anyone?

Highway robbery for the oysters. Learning to shuck them? You can learn off the internet. I've been shucking since I was probably 13 or 14 years old and have several Chesapeake Bay Oyster knives just for that purpose (I'm 71 now). There are several methods that can be used. But what I would do, if yo...

SF, you know that they don't believe you! Hope all is well. I'm currently in FL (USA) on R&R for a while. Leaving on Tuesday for Philadelphia for 5 days and then it's back to Singers again for another 18 months or 18 years. For all the wannabes, my PR approval never did show up online. (Th...

Nobody's rude, just some have thin skin because they didn't think before they put their fingers on the keyboard. Google is your friend if you use it. So is the search engine of this board. I know most of the strawberries of today expect everybody to do their work for them, but we generally don't pla...

Re: Pre marriage rejected & stvp rejected.

If you think your story is different, so be it. You've already been rejected once. You don't earn enough to sponsor your future spouse. That part is currently cast in stone regardless of your race. Her family's background is not anything that can be used as you don't earn enough to sponsor her. I wi...

Re: Pre marriage rejected & stvp rejected.

We've been taking care of my Nephew's little girl since she was 1 year old because her mother was banned due to the not obtaining the PLMA and them getting married in the 'peens. When they returned to Singapore they allowed her to be on an LTVP (1 year) in order to give her the opportunity to give b...

Re: Pre marriage rejected & stvp rejected.

For future applicants of pmla, if you have same situation as him, be discouraged if you marry a foreign spouse. Keep trying and you may well be wasting time and money. For N1mrod, if you don't have a salary of $4.5~$5K/mo, the likelihood of even getting an LTVP is slim. Combined incomes are meaningl...

Re: Employment pass processing time

Not normally. They do this for a reason. In the near past, there have been several ethnic groups who have taken that information and then tried to tailor make their resumes to avoid the negatives but eventually get caught anyway, thereby giving whole races here a bad name due to a few bad apples.

fh12, when one has been on this site and in the region for a fair number of years, we collect a fair amount of data and also are able to spot trends, for better or worse. Nobody knows what exactly the MOM or ICA uses as a guideline, but we do know from our interactions with folks on here and people ...

Re: Be SmArT: Use the Self Assessment Tool

MGEORGE, You are not entirely correct. Maybe you should stick with non-Malaysians. Malaysians with degrees can get an EP (not S pass) with a $2400/mo salary. I know. I just hired two Entomologist BSc freshers from the University of Malaysia. One, three months ago, and the other one last month. Oh, d...
