China's Dystopian Tech

I could see this being implemented in virtually every city in the world. The infrastructure is already there and just a linking of the databases and some programming and Pavlov's response will make us all as docile as shrinking violets. https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/02/chinas-d...

Re: Third-Party Relocation / Visa Agency

Actually has absolutely nothing to do with the relocation company. It has everything to do with the applicant and the MOM. Nobody, and I mean absolutely NOBODY, has an inside track with either the MOM or the ICA where is concerns Visas or Work Passes. You can believe what you want. Actually, the rea...

Re: Where can I buy seasoned fries in Singapore?

Go to the McCormick's spice rack in the local supermarket (even NTUC) and buy yourself a shaker bottle of Old Bay Seasoning. You will find yourself using it on everything eventually. When I go back to my home state in the US (the home of Old Bay Seasoning) I usually bring back at least 4 1lb cans of...

Re: Terminate employment contract during bond period

Quick question. Are you considered as being in a management position? Earn more than 2,500/mo and are not considered as a "workman" but as a manager or executive? if so, yes, it's possible they don't 'have' to pay you overtime. It will depend if you fall under the laws of the Employment Ac...

Re: How Can I Verify the Validity of an IPA Letter?

read my post two posts above your post. I suggest you would be better off just staying in India, truth be known. They will eat you alive here, just like your agents are trying to do in India.

Re: Terminate employment contract during bond period

I am afraid you are up the creek without the proverbial paddle. The contract that you have posted is in line with MOM rules and regulations to the letter. Is this your first job? If it is, get used to it. It's the way of the adult world. As long as the terms of the contract for voluntarily ending yo...

Re: Entry Permit

Nah... he's actually referring to Form 5. It used to be printed on yellow paper with a photo attached and mailed to you. Then it went to plain white A4 paper with a xerox'ed photo. I didn't even get one of those... I got a stamp in my passport when I went from EP to PR... and right next to it, my R...

Re: Entry Permit

No, what is stupid is you getting into a huff because we told you to get off your arse and go down to ICA. Singapore is a small island that can be traversed in less than one hour. The train stops right beside ICA at Kallang and you are whining about how far it is. That is what is stupid. I made abso...

Re: Changing Jobs after getting an EP

Each application is treated from scratch, but habitually jumping jobs will hamper and could very well derail future employment. Especially considering they are looking for reasons to get rid of FTs.
