Re: PR Approved 2021

No idea when the rejection letter will come but you should have waited for your husband to return back to SG and start working before applying for PR. It feels like you wasted $100 if the sponsor isn’t working at all at the moment. But if by some chance that the application is still processing when ...

Re: PR Approved 2021

Hi guys, was hoping to get your opinion and insight on our current status. We applied about a week back, so I understand it’s still a long way to go. Currently, applicant is in Singapore, while sponsor is in Australia studying. Finishing studies in Dec 2022, and planning to return to Singapore to f...

Re: Does Singapore allow dual permanent residency? (SG and US)

^ I thought one could only file for US green card after being in the US physically for 5 (or was it 3) years? That’s what I read the last time I checked. You mean it can be done irrespective of the location? I vaguely remember my poly classmate being on the US fiancée visa and then applied for the g...

Re: Does Singapore allow dual permanent residency? (SG and US)

sms has always said to have a Plan B in case PR or SC application is rejected.

Is it necessary to be so aggressive with your posts anyway? You can’t read tone of voice via text and I wasn’t being hostile.

At least it’s better to show interest by applying for SC rather than balik kampung once PR is obtained.

Re: Does Singapore allow dual permanent residency? (SG and US)

Singapore PR is not really "permanent" at all. It can be yanked at any time and for most any reason, chiefly that you don't have a job. It's closer to a super employment pass, with terms and conditions. PR has always been a stepping stone towards citizenship. If one wants it permanent, then take up...

Re: PR Approval Probability 2021

There is a rule that if you become a PR within 6 months of buying a house then SG Gov. will also reimburse the portion of HDB grants for 1 person. That's why we are looking for approval This is entirely incorrect. Do not confuse the top up grant as “reimbursing the grant”, that is not true at all. ...

Re: Need help to assess PR application profile

^ That’s why I asked Sunjackal whether he applied for PR via PTS or family ties scheme and he still has not given a response.

If PTS, chances seem okay. If family ties and wife aka the sponsor is not working, that’s a huge question mark.

Re: Will having a child guarantee LTVP?

I think reasons for rejection would be length of marriage is less than 3 years, no children Not true, I was married for less than 2 months & have no children when my husband’s first LTVP & subsequent renewals got approved. Don’t confuse LTVP application with PR application. You did not mention if y...

Re: Where will you retire?

I remember you telling me that O levels are good enough for comm college. My wife doesn't believe it and she teaches at an American school here! after O-Levels in Singapore she went straight to university in the US. I can confirm that too. My friend dropped out of JC and enrolled in a uni in Wiscon...

Re: Need help to assess PR application profile

Would it mean that if I am working and my wife elects to be a stay-at-home mum until our child starts school - that it’ll cause me a problem down the line because they won’t approve a visa based on the non-sponsor’s employment situation? Depends what scheme you applied on. Is it family ties scheme ...

Re: Navigating quaruntine & LTVP

I do feel that as he is the spouse of a SC, he is less likely to face issues. Nope again. Male or female spouse of a SC, ICA will still scrutinise thoroughly. There has never been a guarantee that foreign spouses will get LTVP upon marriage. It’s a chance we have to take. Even this guy is a spouse ...

Re: Navigating quaruntine & LTVP

He’s already been employed. Not exactly true. The condition of this employment is IF he has both LTVP granted and the PLOC. He does not have both at the moment which is a risk. Since SG has opened up the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) to a few countries, just buy a one-way ticket to Brunei maybe? Sco...

Re: Navigating quaruntine & LTVP

did you need to provide evidence that you were 'departing' the country to get your short term visa, or did you just explain you were applying for LTVP? When my husband applied for LTVP in 2019, he packed these in his carry-on backpack: the PMLA and an onward ticket from a budget airline to a nearby...
