Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

Sounds like a vested interest for sure. That kind of solicitation on this forum could get you busted. I have PR of a developed country; so definitely no more vested interests in SG. You probably should go read some forums where locals are to understand local forum’ culture where people look for ref...

Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

By the way, “If you had any problems you’d go or be referred to KKH” is nothing more than a pervading rumor in SG that isn’t medically tested. This false rumor stemmed from the fact that SG was barely third world not long ago and most people can’t afford the NICU fees of private hospitals. Those who...

Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

What Aussiemama should know is that she should just go to KK Womens' & Children's hospital and be done with it. That’s your opinion. Every time the topic of public vs private healthcare in SG comes up, you always see these dogmatic trolls that suddenly spring up sounding very vehement. Really do wo...

Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

Sorry to piss on your parade, but I certainly wasn't a charity case, and in the case of both my 1st born's birth and my wife's cardiologist, they were contacted by us via recommendation of another of their patients. They also had no problems that we opted for public hospitals. Apparently a lot of t...

Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

You forgot to mention that those same specialists who maintain their offices in the private hospitals also do rounds one or two days a week in the public hospitals. I know this for fact as when my wife had her heart attack about 8 years ago, she was attended to by the son of the most famous Father ...

Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

To be more specific (and trying not to be sued) - there are specialists in the private system who would - in a litigious society - have been sued out of practice in my purely personal opinion based on friends dreadful experiences. They cannot pass scrutiny in the public system but they seem to be a...

Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

Patients being taken to public hospitals by emergency ambulances HAS NOTHING to do with where the most skilled, the best, the most experienced, the most famous, where the top, the most glittered the biggest name surgeons and specialists practice in Singapore. That’s because ambulances mostly take pa...

Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

:^o You have two sample sizes. Enough said. What’s the odds of someone experienced but somehow incompetent? Slim but certainly possible. And it happened to you. You were suay. What’s the odds of someone green but performed satisfactorily and competent? Slim but also certainly possible. All you are t...

Re: National Service Deferment Procedure in Singapore.

It really doesn't matter whether there is conscription or the Draft or a volunteer army. Training deaths happen. However, you wouldn't know anything about that. I was a volunteer back when the Draft was in full swing during the VN war July 65 to July 68. We didn't have any more training deaths per ...

Re: National Service Deferment Procedure in Singapore.

The loss of life in this country's peacetime army is minuscule compared to the peacetime armies of the developed world. . A most dubious claim since only Taiwan, Israel, South Korea besides sinkieland have mandatory conscription. Comparing peacetime deaths of countries with mandatory conscription w...

Re: Drinking water in Singapore ? Water filters

yep yep water from the tap is safe to drink. in fact the public utilities board actually discourages using filtration devices http://www.ifaq.gov.sg/pub/mobile/index.aspx#Detaildoc/34004 but when Im outside in public places, I wouldnt be so inclined to drink from taps considering the cleanliness of...

Re: National Service Deferment Procedure in Singapore.

vlogin Err I am surprised no one asked yet but wouldn’t a major factor be the citizenship that you have? Where are you from? Unless you are from a country like India, Bangladesh, the sort, ya know what I mean, wouldn’t your country of origin afford you a better future given that Singapore is a micro...

Re: Just landed and 34 weeks pregnant!

I would not use that one as they almost killed a friend. Mt Elizabeth at Mt Elizabeth or GlenEagles if you want private but honestly KKH or NUH are the best. To put it frankly the shitty docs in this country go private, the good ones stay in NUH or SGH or KKH . This would be a total lie, at best it...

Re: getting a job as newly married to Singaporean spouse - Letter of Consent

Better for you and your wife to move to your home country as Singapore is no longer doing open leg, oops I mean, open door policy for foreigners. Those with local spouses notwithstanding.
