Re: Brother Against Brother?

LHY's core argument - his brother is betraying his father's values by introducing ever more repressive measures and wanting to create a political dynasty, etc - doesn't really make sense. LHL is very much following in his father's footsteps. If anything, he's less repressive. LKY imprisoned people f...

Re: Expats behaving badly

On the one hand, all these expats are awful (and one a murderer, who I hope gets a very lengthy sentence - if not the death penalty). On the other, clicking on the YouTube videos, you read streams of racist comments. In fact, are there any other countries where "foreigner commits mild anti-social ac...

What if Jesus decided to pay us a visit and walked in and spoke in a funny Hebrew accent?
He'd speak Aramaic or a Greek dialect, for a start.

I will bet fellow forum members a box of 3-ply face-masks that the above is itself a massive scam. Many red flags.

Re: Singapore elderly?

The more mercenary the culture, the more problematic it is for those who are economically-unproductive to survive. I saw this coming for countries like Singapore and China. Where money is everything, and sometimes even more important than one's life. Ironically, the Confucian concept of filial piet...

Re: Good Coffee in Singapore?

I've picked up a taste for kopi-c kosong (coffee with evaporated milk and no sugar). I'd never drink it at home, but somehow it makes sense in a hawker centre. It helps me recover from that tired, hazy feeling like nothing else can. Anyway, I recommend Lam Yeo Coffee Powder Factory (328 Balastier Ro...

Re: Related to Emigration

Just to add, half of the Singaporeans that I know who have settled abroad are homosexual.

Of the young families that I know, some cite not wanting to put their children through the Singaporean education system.

Re: Related to Emigration

I was wondering why people move from Singapore to other countries? Singapore is developed and every foreigners comes to settle in Singapore. Re: English Primary School Teacher in Singapore

Hi Everyone. I am looking for a bit of advice about moving to Singapore next Summer. I am a 22 year old primary school teacher (with a degree) and a completed NQT year and, by next Summer, will have had 2 years of experience teaching children age 4-11. My boyfriend (who is not a teacher) and I are ...

Re: Singapore elderly?

The fact is, if you see some of the old people selling tissues at hawker centres or even selling their bodies down Petain Road, suicide is a logical choice. It's coming to August and National Day. Watch out for a sepia-tinged weepy with a plinky-plonk piano soundtrack about an old man finding an old...

Re: One child v/s two

I am more of a computer guy and my daughter tries to pull me away to play with her. I play with her, but this is more like reluctant and I have to force myself. I think the question is whether you should've had one child, nevermind thinking of having another. I really hope you only posted this beca...

Re: My Extramaritial Affair - Need Advise

Everyone seems to be looking at this from a single angle: cutting off the woman you had an affair with, and not thinking about the wider implications for your marriage. Clearly if you were willing to have an affair with a Filipino domestic helper - who is probably not a great conversationalist that ...
