Health Insurance & Reembursmeng Policies

Hi All, My health insurance policy covers general gp visits / general dental etc all cashless. What I've found out by accident is that when you need 40k of surgery they expect you to pay upfront and seek repayment via their claims process - something that was completely brushed over on all policy do...

Same Day Wedding Band Rhodium Plating

Hi Folks, Is there anywhere in Singapore that does a same day Rhodium Plating service ? The best I've found so far are talking 3-4 days which I'm not a big fan of - I'd like to be without the ring as little time as possible. I've got a very straight forward flat band wedding ring - no bells & whistl...

Re: Risky Employment Contract Terms

Indeed StrongEagle - that's 100% my take on it aswell. Thankfully, this has been negotiated and resolved so the opportunity was not lost in the end, and that didn't involve soul selling. Thanks for all your input folks - and for those lurking / coming across this later on - Be Nice, But be Firm if y...

Re: Risky Employment Contract Terms

To the OP, as SMS said, if there is anything about the contract clause that you and your wife are unhappy with, she shouldn't accept the role. Yup ! Exactly where we have been since we saw it - trying to avoid the lost opportunity due to misinterpretation or administrative laziness or ignorance - T...

Re: Risky Employment Contract Terms

At the rate the OP is going, he's going to talk himself out of a contract by overthinking things. Every expat that ever arrived on foreign soil can find something detrimental in their contract if they want to dwell on it. If he's not comfortable with it, just say no and stay home. Easy-peasy. We ha...

Re: Risky Employment Contract Terms

Thanks - indeed it seems so pointless and the "sales reps"....I mean recruitment consultants....don't have the skills to negotiate through this - it doesn't have to be a negative outcome at all - this can work out just fine - there is no underhandedness going on here from our side. Of course one str...

Risky Employment Contract Terms

Hi All, I'm on an EP - 6 months into a 2 year term. Wife is on DP on my EP. She hasn't worked here since we arrived - she started job hunting a few weeks ago. She got an offer with one of the main banks - it's a contract through an agency - appears to be LOC based. No end date specified on the contr...

Re: Landlord Withholding Access to Mail - Bank & Credit Cards locked away.

Had considered the card re-issue, though it would probably take another week for that aswell and based on my experience they're unlikely to send the pin and the card to the branch together - and rightly so.

Landlord Withholding Access to Mail - Bank & Credit Cards locked away.

We're living in Service Apartment in CBD/Financial District for a month while we searching for a condo. New bank debit & credit cards were sent by the new SG bank to this service apartment address - no other options and a substantial salary payment was imminent. Asked letting agent to let me know wh...

Re: Employment pass issue delay - 6 weeks!

Personally my pass is Perm, relocating from EMEA, rates are inline with benchmarking - perhaps slightly lower but certainly no more than 5/10% off.

Company employs a substantial amount of locals and would have a high ratio in that area I'd expect.

Seems ya never do know though with this process !

Re: EP (Employment Pass) processing time delay

Did any of those delayed passes come through for those of you waiting - assume so given you went quiet and probably got busy !? My employer applied on 23rd Jan for my 2 year EP - still in Pending status on the MOM portal I've been told - I can't check it myself - 28 days now today and heading into w...

Re: Ireland to Singapore - 2year+ Stay - Partner Visa Advice

One remark, as you emphasized some few times on the low Singapore income taxes. They should not be considered alone but confronted with the cost of living and Singapore is on the top of the list. Anyway, the other arguments for choosing Singapore still holds. Oh I know - and over here is very simil...
