Re: Delta putting a damper on things global

TBH, I don't think it was a flinch. The new border restrictions shows real promise for some kind of controlled, semi-viable business travel in the future. (anything to avoid 14-21D hotel Q) Looks like a restricted expansion of the Business Travel Pass . We may retain a presence in Singapore if they...

Re: Delta putting a damper on things global

I am, however, comforted with the idea that 2we have to return to normal at some point- we can’t continue like this for the next decade. I read an apt analogy recently on the COVID pandemic - COVID is more akin to “War on Drugs” than “War on the Axis Powers.". Like the former, COVID never goes away...

Re: Delta putting a damper on things global

It's the way to go now and of course the gahmen is aware. However, I think they want to have a bit of spare confidence when it comes to hospital capacity/IC/oxygen cases. Once they're sure absolutely no issues are expected on that front, they'll pivot to endemic mode. I'll believe it when I see it....

Re: trying to relocate from UK

During good times, that's how we scratch that travel itch. Unfortunately it's not an option now. Hopefully, vaccinations will change that soon. The real problem is, noone has any kind of reliable time line for this damn COVID pandemic. Border reopenings could be anywhere within 1-3-5 years (beyond ...

Re: trying to relocate from UK

Take it with a grain of salt. Cabin fever & border restrictions are the main issues here & we've had both nonstop for the past 16 months, hence the frustration. Rigid local restrictions are just the icing on the cake. 14 days in a quarantine hotel just isn't meaningful for any kind of recurring trav...

Re: trying to relocate from UK

Seconded.

I'm leaving in a couple of months as well, which in retrospect I should have done 3-6 months ago.

Singapore is fantastic & will become so again when borders reopen. But it's a soulless repressive existence being locked in here for years.

I could be wrong, but it seems like in the last decade PR has become more geared toward those intended for future citizenry.
Yes, almost exclusively so.

My understanding is that for individuals who have allergic reactions to mrna vaccines, Sinovac is a better option than nothing at all.
Without a doubt!

Re: How to get Sinovac?

Wow everyone has become an armchair scientist and medical professional in this topic. We're just believing what the government tells us to believe. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/significant-problems-sinovac-vaccine-other-countries-moh-official-105357031.html Can? Btw, 3 of the cabinet members are MD's.

Are you asking about onboarding of individuals or businesses?
I was thinking about those private wealth managers, who regularly went to Malaysia, Indo, China, SK etc to source regional clients. I reckon most of the regional sales team have been grounded for the past 15 mths?

I actually believe I saw 'Seagate' on a building recently.

Anyway, yes. In 10 years time Singapore will mostly be a south asian data centre, w/fintech & data scientists.

Re: Reopening is too slow

So where’s the regional office going to be, if not in hk, or sg. What office? We're thinking of keeping a skeleton crew of locals if needed, all on indefinite WFH. They've been doing WFH for the past year already. The rest can work overseas as they please, in their home countries or wherever. Clien...
