Re: Do you miss flying?
I think the vaccine rollout will take time. I don't see us flying until the end of this year. That is quite a thing to not catch a flight and be stuck on a 700sqkm island for 2 years! Tell me about it. One of the best things about living in SG has always been the ease of leaving it. For some odd re...

Re: Australia has this bridge visa while you wait for PR
Also worth noting - overseas cap gains aren't taxed in Australia when residing on a BIIP/investor stream provisional visa.
BIIP is 4 year visa. PR can follow after this.
SG is great for business, but it's not great for residency, generally speaking.

Re: How do you like it here?
This is like a habit for many local companies and not only companies. I don't think they even see it. No transparency, no need for truthful information. In the above case there was probably a legitimate reason but many times it's just pure incompetence what makes it even worse. With this sort of ob...

I can't believe how small a margin (53.41%) saved the next PM designate from getting kicked out of parliament (& government)... HSK slowly being sidelined for PM post... Re: Tax residency and working remotely, away from Singapore
The global managers that I spoke of are not likely to see a great deal of difference, whether their income is taxed at the progressive 0-22% resident rates or the flat 15% non-resident rate in Singapore - in fact, the latter may even yield some tax savings. Ah. No potential non-resident savings on ...

Re: The last Covid19 cluster has closed
Certainly looking forward to normalcy soon... Real normalcy in Singapore is years off. Lawrence Wong says as much in this clip... nn2v6tN7_Qs Our current stifling restrictions will remain for a long time. He even seems to suggest restrictions could stay indefinitely. I can't help but feel, this con...

Can't believe I didn't know there's a Fatburger outlet in singers... - and there's actually 4!! Lunch's settled then. Shake Shack's pretty decent, but nothing more. Some of the local upscale restaurants serve the best burgers here. (Basque, Masa,...) Edited - Had to Google it: Looks like we even had...

Re: Tax residency and working remotely, away from Singapore
From a previous discussion on the forum, I actually believe an EP confers SG tax residency by definition (as far as SG is concerned), whether you're here or not. So that's different from being PR or SC. You do require an actual SG residence to retain an EP, of course. If you're spending less than 18...

3 tests - 1) pre-dep in SG, 2) on arrival in HKG (wait in terminal 2-3 hrs for test result) & 3) pre-dep in HK.
No test required on arrival back in SG.

Re: How long do you think COVID19 will last
I think they're not keen to remove masks any time soon, the main reason being is that once borders open up significantly, cases will be sure to rise, meaning unless we're wearing our masks, transmissions will rise commensurately. The government is reluctant to remove mask usage for one reason only:...

Re: How long do you think COVID19 will last
The strategy is to maintain most safety management restrictions as a buffer towards relaxed (mostly unilateral) border restrictions. (read: Outdoor masks probably stays for another year) Hmm, this particular trade-off doesn't appear to pan out well. Even with an open border from select countries, i...
