Re: 2019 PR Rejection: How long to wait before re-applying?

I am single... Of the (few) caucasians I know, who've gotten PR within the last 3-4 years, all of them have been married & applied as a family. I think the "family = stability = will settle down in SG = will become a citizen" thing also applies for the caucasian sub-category, so singlehood may not ...

Re: Population in Brief 2018

The consistent ethnic mix is an indication (obviously) that the Singapore population is by design and not evolutionary circumstance, consistent with most other aspects of Singapore. Then again, the country's raison d'être in modern times have always been as a global trading post, and so it shall rem...

Re: Population in Brief 2018

Indeed.

Looks like a calibrated increase in new citizens (& corresponding PR's to fill the candidate pool) to offset the continuous decrease in TFR.

PR mix may vary and resident population size may increase, but ethnic mix of citizen population shows an amazing stability over time.

Re: PR Status - Pending <More than 1 Year>

If it is a very straight forward rejection, i know a couple of them who got the results rejected in 3-4 months. Clear cut rejections seemed to take around 1 month in the old days. I guess they're just stringing the maybe's and the no way's further along these days... I wonder if the number of appli...

Re: PR Status - Pending <More than 1 Year>

Normal waiting time is 12 to 18 months. This has been the case for the past couple of years. Interestingly, since they went fully digital with the PR applications last year, the base level of waiting time has actually increased significantly. People of the "favoured" category still gets their PR wi...

Re: PR Pending

In fact, I don't recommend PR at all any more That's actually my recommendation as well. Unless you're in the preferred category, just keep working on EP & don't apply PR. Getting pointlessly slapped with a PR rejection x number of times just sours what would otherwise have been a completely satisf...

Re: Chance to get PR for CTO for an EduTech startup

Just wonder if there is a chance if a person holds a higher position and given company's shares (5%) Unfortunately that has near-zero influence. The other posters are right - ethnicity & nationality are the dominant criteria. Even for the favoured ethnicity/nationality, salary wouldn't have a big i...

Re: Applying PR for my Wife Who is an Investor But not Elligible for GIP

It bears repeating that SG (like all other organisations) are not looking for the best people, but rather the *right* people. And the policy goal for "right" (for the foreseeable future) are those who will fit in as productive citizens and be accepted as such by the existing citizens in order to min...

Re: PR Chances Indian Couple with a son

if we don't make it in our first attempt but if we never get PR- what then? :( At 40+ won't it be late to apply for Canada\Aus etc PR. Solution: Apply for *all* of them now! If SG doesn't want you, eventually just find somewhere else that will. It's easy to develop tunnel vision about SG, as it's s...

Re: PR Chances Indian Couple with a son

Apart from race, our salary, our child's gender, higher education in SG, learning Chinese etc won't help? Nope! Welcome to SG! :D Of course you should apply - on paper you guys are very qualified. Unfortunately I've seen plenty of people carrying very strong credentials getting turned away. Sometim...

Re: Citizenship application status still pending

Most of them would have obtained their PR through the PTS scheme so as long as they are gainfully employed in SG, the gahmen will renew their REP. However, if they lose their jobs or retire or stay out of SG for a prolonged period, then they can kiss their REP goodbye. Yep. Government doesn't revok...

Exactly.

From the article:
This could mean that the same number of people who receive PR status in each year choose to give up their permanent residency each year.
Answer: They become Singapore citizens.
