Question about renewing Re-entry Permit from overseas
Hi, I hold Singapore Permanent Resident status with my Re-entry Permit (REP) to expire early 2023. Currently, I am living overseas. Because I have lived outside Singapore for the better part of the past 5 years, I have not made much CPF contributions, and I am anticipating that my on-line renewal wi...

Re: Remaining a PR for the rest of one's life in Singapore
I think the biggest problem is medical as you grow older (I'll be 72 in 6 weeks +/-) I've been healthy all my adult life but I anticipate issues obviously in the coming years. This is one consideration as our subsidies have all but been eliminated. As far as PR is concerned, if you are a single per...

Remaining a PR for the rest of one's life in Singapore
Hi, I believe that a number of people on this forum have remained a PR in Singapore for a long time (some more than 30 years?), without any intention of applying for Singaporean citizenship. They are mostly citizens of Western countries. Understandably it is difficult to give up those citizenships (...

Re: Dual nationality, which one takes precedence?
I am sorry if I am hijacking your post to ask a minor question. I am curious about the paragraph I bolded below. If you present your UK Passport to the airline check-in counter of Changi Airport, and if they make a note of this in their system, does ICA not have access to it? (assuming you are flyin...

Re: Apply for PR with different passport? (Dual national)
I know this is an old post, and I hope people don't mind me reviving it. To recap, the OP is a Filipino/British dual national. Her work pass was associated with her Filipino passport, and she was wondering if she should apply for PR using her Filipino or British passport. I hope that things went wel...

Re: When should I inform my supervisor of my intention to resign?
IF you contract does not explicitly state a punishment (i.e. a payback or clawback clause). for not serving notice then I would risk giving notice after you get your bonus and not showing up (i.e. fly out). Your tax matters will be an issue but can be resolved remotely. I would state you are workin...

Re: When should I inform my supervisor of my intention to resign?
Both 2a and 2b options are good. That way the management has the ability to direct 100% of the bonus you would have received to the other staff who are staying, thus making them happier. Who cares if you get no bonus, you are leaving anyway. I hope that the Ref is joking or at least speaking with t...

No, I don't think so, although I wish it would be the case.PNGMK wrote:Are you likely to be put on garden leave for the three months?

When should I inform my supervisor of my intention to resign?
My original plan was to inform my supervisors of my intention to resign in the first 2 weeks of April, and submit my formal resignation to HR in the same period. This will allow me to leave Singapore in early July (we have a 3-month notice requirement). However, there is an annual performance apprai...

Re: Tennis court on rooftop of condo - noise issue?
I don't necessarily agree with this. Americans are also quite loud on buses, especially when in a group.

Re: Tennis court on rooftop of condo - noise issue?
Hi guys, This is an update. So I am just back from viewing the place for the second time. I had my agent bouncing a tennis ball on the rooftop, and hitting it against the metal fence of the tennis court. Guess what! The noise was clearly audible in the unit. In fact it was unbearably loud. Phew! I d...

Re: Tennis court on rooftop of condo - noise issue?
By this standard, I think lots of apartments are inhabitable here in Singapore, which is just a sad fact.

Re: Tennis court on rooftop of condo - noise issue?
I am taking another look at the place this week and will have someone jump and stomp on the tennis court. But I will need to figure out the area that is right above my unit, as the tennis court is quite big and covers quite a number of units. I think the only way to tell is to get one person to the ...

Re: Tennis court on rooftop of condo - noise issue?
Thanks. I agree that road noise is another important consideration. It is a factor in my housing search. This one with a tennis court right on the roof does not face the road, and therefore is very very quiet. It would be perfect if there are no structures on the roof. It would be more sensible if t...

Tennis court on rooftop of condo - noise issue?
Hi, I am looking for a top-floor unit (as I don't want people to stomp around above my head). I saw one such unit today. Everything is good. However, there is a tennis court and terrace space on the rooftop, which everyone in the building can access. How much of a potential problem could this be? I ...
