We're close to Plaza Singapura/Dhoby Ghaut. I was looking at the map and it doesn't look very good... Wonder if the president would mind if we went skating in his park? :D What about Marina Bay Park?

Hi there! During the autumn internationals my Welsh hubby and I found Father Flanagans at Chijmes to be a good place to watch rugby. It was never too busy and they had a projector so screen size wasn't a problem. We're holding our breaths at the moment to find out which games they're showing and wil...

Where to rollerblade besides East Coast Park?

The hubby and I have been going to East Coast Park to rollerblade (on rented skates) and now we got our own skates for Christmas. However, East Coast Park is quite a journey away, would anyone have any suggestions about where else would be good for rollerblading that would be a bit more central? The...

A couple of months ago it took 7 days, and this time round it was 14 days. Probably took longer because of the holidays.

I'd suggest putting your CV on Monster (with a Singapore address). I've got quite a few calls from interested recruitment agents that way...

Our agent said that if the rent's over $3000 (or maybe $2500? Can't remember) they don't charge the tenant anything.

IT graduate job seeking

Hi all Just thought I'd share my experiences of looking for work in Singapore as a fresh IT graduate. This forum has given me loads of advice so I thought I might give something back! I graduated from a top UK university in the summer, but I don't have a lot of work experience or any unusual or high...

Also, that change of trains at City Hall is very easy as you don't really need to walk anywhere inside the MRT station, just from one side of the platform to the other.

Looking for a (team) sport to take up

Hi all My husband and I have been in Singapore for about 7 weeks now, and I'm starting to feel like I need to get active. I've never regularly played a team sport before, but after getting into some World Cup inspired 5-a-side football over ther summer in Europe, I'm inspired! Also being new in Sing...

Debs - thanks for the tip, though I have to say I'm more of a rugby union (instead of rugby league) gal myself. My fault, I should've specified that in the post! barnesy - We'll see... 8-) I come bearing good news: a couple of the internationals will indeed be shown on TV over here! It had looked li...

So I rang Nick, and he indeed seemed to know quite a bit about rugby on TV over here! But the bad news is they don't show the Heineken cup. Apparently last year they only showed the final :(. I also noticed on the Heineken Cup website that French TV is showing some of the French games, which I hoped...

Well that's a bit difficult to say, given that within Europe and USA you can find places where there's not very much of 'male chauvinism', and places where there's loads of it! I guess it's a little bit difficult to get exactly what you want to know. If you're talking about men hassling you on the s...

Hi CK35!

The trip to Tioman was amazing, although pretty hard core. It was just all dive dive dive and no relaxing at the beach.

So 9.30 pm tonight? We'll be there!
