Re: EP Rejected... Confused and Stressed

That's a really crappy situtation to be in.

Did you try going back to your original company?

Re: Population Statistics - Residents and NonResidents wanna be

Holy freak, kicking out the mothers because they didn't ask the gov to marry? I feel sorry for your grand-niece, growing up without her mother would be horrible. I know a bunch of PRC teachers who all got PR easily, several are going for Citizenship too, several already have it. Not one of them was ...

Re: Living, dating, and tele-working from SG on a tourist visa

@PNGMK, I don't blame him, if he 'never' feels this way he is probably very excited and thinking emotionally.

Hopefully their relationship can last the many months of long distance they are in for, trust me, if you aren't dedicated it will kill and ruin your relationship.

Re: Living costs Singapore? - Advice

9k a month should be fine. Your biggest expense will be housing, you're willing to share so that brings the price down. Depending on where you live I would guess the minimums could be: Own place ~ 2000+ Master bedroom ~ 1200+ Single room ~ 500+ Obviously better places and locations will make those p...

Re: Advice needed - got an offer while another branch of the company is pending

I was in the same situation as OP when I first responded to this thread. I had company 1 give me a second round interview for next week, then I had company 2 call me at night to organise an interview the next day, I was offered the job at the end of the interview, and had the contract that day to lo...

Re: Advice needed - got an offer while another branch of the company is pending

Holy shit, I went off on a tangent. Anyway, yes, it is artificial, they have no reason to no be able to delay it until Friday. If he declines they have their second (and third, and fourth) options lined up to send the offer out to. If he declines the second person would be given probably until the n...

Re: Advice needed - got an offer while another branch of the company is pending

It's fairly artificial. They could give an idea of where the candidate stands in the current order, e.g. "You're currently our main candidate, if we didn't have interviews with the two people on Friday we would hire you". I've done the above to a potential employee(s), I let them know for one of the...

Re: Advice needed - got an offer while another branch of the company is pending

I wouldn't like being given an artificial deadline so they can secure you based on you not wanting to lose an offer.

Then again, you could lose both, which is terrible.

Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

This thread is titled, "Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass" and BBCW has turned it into a semester long course on security. How bizarre. To be fair, the thread question was answered. The rest is just extra board activity, which is (mostly) positive (boards lose users and appe...

Re: Recruiter/Talent positions

I've only spoken to local recruiters :/ I called them from the posted ads.

If it's true that they use recruitment as a short-term job, then no wonder they don't care.

Caged animals are awesome! The more intelligent the animal the more enjoyment I get from seeing them trapped.

Re: Couple new to Singapore seeks new buddies

I actually went looking through that site and worked out the ~10km route, except 2km or so was needing to be on the road/footpath (not quite legal, from what I've read).

Move to the East Coast? Do you have a vehicle?

Re: Unpleasant Stay experience is Singapore!!!!!!

The thing that honestly gets me here, is the lack of regard for other people that they deem they're better than. See: -Maids falling out of freak windows because they have to wash the outside. -Maids being forced to reclean the same shit multiple times per day, or do stupid tasks (have to get your m...

Re: RE: Re: Unpleasant Stay experience is Singapore!!!!!!

I honestly think a major part of it is not wanting you to sublet, because for all they know these "friends"/your "mother" could simply be paying you $25-50 per night to have a cheap stay at a condo. You saw PNGMKs thread on going after Airbnb? ;) Ha, no - I've been visiting SG since 2010, and readi...
