Tax clearance

My employer failed to get tax clearance or even inform or mention it to me when offering me a relocation to the US. A year later when they shut down SG operations they ask me to pay immediately 65k in tax for tax clearance! This is based on future earnings from RSUs that were issued in SG but not ev...

Deemed exercised

So I worked in SG for a year for an American company and got RSUs that only some have vested and that can’t be sold as company isn’t public. Anyway I left Singapore a year ago and still work for the US arm. I got a note saying I must pay a huge sum on those RSU. Deemed exercised rule. I can’t pay at...

Re: Inbound international mail problems

Slight update it now says it's arrived from overseas and on route to next processing centre. I'm guessing it would be 48-72 hours from now before delivery. And I'll be gone by 11am tomorrow. At least I now know it isn't lost.

Thanks for the replies and help.

Re: Inbound international mail problems

Well it was sent signed for if that helps. Still no update. Really pisses me off as I have to leave Hong Kong tomorrow and I know they only hold undelivered mail for 7 days. Probably going to have have to fly back just to collect this parcel!

Inbound international mail problems

I am awaiting some small parcel from the UK sent Royal Mail international signed. It left U.K. On November 9th and it's now 14th and tracking still just says on its way to Singapore. The signpost website says at least 2 business days once arrived in Singapore before tracking update. I have never had...

BEST roaming data/sim

Hi, I have been using an M1 pre pay sim since moving to Singapore a few months back. I have some questions: *How easy is a number transfer if i move to for example Sing Tel post pay? *I want a deal that has the maximum amount of data (i believe this is 12GB in Sin) and also allows me to travel freel...

Re: Singapore shipping customs

Thanks a lot for the reply. It's just I know how strict they 'can' be here in Sin. The meds are nothing fancy, Antibiotics, pain meds like co-codomol ok, some breast cancer meds (belonging to mom)and fertility meds. No 'party drugs' as they say. I guess we just gotta wait and see - I suppose worst c...

Singapore shipping customs

Hi all, had a bit of a mix up and now I fee like a plum. So we packed all out boxes to Singapore via seven seas worldwide and they have now shipped. God knows how long they will take. So I realised I have packed a bunch of prescription meds in some of the boxes mixed in with our supplements, vitamin...

Something told me that this would be the case as i have spoken to people at work and they seem blind to it despite actually living in Singapore.

Working on a DP

My wife will join me in Singapore after we are married soon. I move there in a month and we marry in the UK the following month. She will relocate in July and obtain a DP. I am on EP. I understand she can work with a Letter of Consent. Does anyone have more info on this process? The prospective empl...

Re: Best Airline for Miles

Thank you. This was really insightful. I have decided to begin building points with star alliance. I already have a million with Oneworld so I'll spend them on my weekend trips to HK and trips home to the UK from Sinfapore. Thanks again.

Re: Credit profiles and credit cards

Thank you for that information. The reason i say credit card is because it offers much more protection against fraud. I was once ripped off by 4k on a debit card and it was hirrible. Never got the full amount back. But credit card companies have been far more accommodating in similar situations as i...
