Re: Delta putting a damper on things global

Meanwhile... Seniors 70 and above - 22% unvaccinated. Seniors 60 - 69 - 14% unvaccinated. Pretty high numbers. The equivalent of western anti vaxxers.... ](*,) [Sent by Gov.sg – 30 Jul] Vaccinations as of 28 Jul - Received at least 1 dose: 4,278,760 - Completed full regimen*: 3,208,556 - % of popula...

Re: Buying a HDB or Condominium?

All HDB estates now have exercise corners every few blocks that have some basic exercise equipment. No gym membership required, everyone is free to use it. Town council maintains it too. Swimming pool wise, you can deduct the entrance fee from your ActiveSG account but that’s for citizens and maybe...

Re: Delta putting a damper on things global

I am not sure why the elderly do not want to get vaccinated? Isn't worse to contract it without having any protection..? I'm in this whatsapp group with a bunch of Singaporeans. There are often these discussions about vaccination. There seems to be a whole misinformation campaign which seeks to pus...

Yes that's my understanding as well. Part of the government vaccination program.

Re: Delta putting a damper on things global

Yep. Less chance of being infected. Less symptoms /severity if you do get infected. Less chances of hospitalization and apparently less likely to spread your infection.

Re: Migrating to Singapore as a doctor

From my knowledge, if one gets their MBBS in China or India, they are not recognised in SG and they need to take a qualifying exam in order to practice. Most of them end up doing research in SG in the end. Even my colleague who was a gynaecologist back in China can’t practice here so she went into ...

Re: SRS investment options

Ah, ok… now I understand. Any reason you need to stay on NSE/BSE or can you go to LSE for your non-India exposure? For non-US persons looking for US exposure, LSE definitely has the lowest expense (0.07% for CSPX/VUSD) and least dividend withholding (15% Ireland domiciliary rates), and no concern a...

Re: Delta putting a damper on things global

Delta varient seems to be putting a damper on resuming a new normal. Case counts and clusters here seem to mount each day even with an vaccination roll out. Not so sure August is going the way it's being planned. Do you think Singapore will still be phase 2 restrictions come September. USA seeing r...

Re: Buying a HDB or Condominium?

There's also the convenience of having your swimming pool /gym right near your doorstep (almost) vs having to travel somewhere else. To be honest, I end up rarely using the facilities myself, but since we have a recent addition to our family, namely our (now) 17 month old daughter, the convenience o...

Re: SRS investment options

Interesting… I hadn’t heard of the Nasdaq India Index before, only the Nifty 50. NFTY has more than doubled since the Mar 2020 low, not a bad run at all! No you misunderstood. It's an ETF available in the 2 major Indian exchanges, the NSE and BSE, that tracks the nasdaq 100, meaning exposure to the...

Re: SRS investment options

Unfortunately, there's no S&P500 tracking ETF in the Indian markets - the closest is the nasdaq 100. But we are digressing - that was just a comment about my portfolio outside of my Singapore accounts - eventually I will cash out the others and move the money to Singapore.

Re: SRS investment options

Actually when I look through the cpf allowed investments, the Lion's infinity 500 looks like a better fit there. Based on what I read and the suggestions here, I'm probably leaning towards S27. CPF is one of the best vehicles to house the non-equity portion of your portfolio. Just look at how poor ...

Re: Expat retiree looking for Covid vaccination

Out of curiosity, what's your residency status in Singapore?

Anyway, yes it seems that some private clinics are offering Sinovac for a fee. I did a quick search but I couldn't seem to find any that are offering pfizer for a fee. So it looks like your choices are limited to one.

Re: Upgrade to youtube/premium music or spotify?

Music is easy to find for free. Not if you want to stream it on the go and don't want to keep your phone screen open throughout the time that you are listening to the music. Exactly. The only way you can play it for free is to use YouTube or Spotify with ads. The first option requires you to have y...
