Re: PEP and the 144,000 requirement

Thanks to all for this fantastic advice. One more question, if I may: I understand that as a PEP I need to earn 12,000 or more per month, which is fine with me. However, I was wondering if in the meantime (while searching for job) during my 6 months max. unemployment period, I would be allowed to do...

What pre-paid to pick?

I am moving to SG and will not have all things settled at the beginning still looking for a flat and figuring things out, so I want to pick a prepaid card. Last time I had starhub when I visted SG and it was quite a horrifying experience. These pre-paids are complicated, with dozen of rules, excepti...

Re: Temporary Accomodation

Sounds sensible thanks a lot. If I would live in Malaysia, Vietnam (HCMC), Thailand (BKK) and only go to SG few times per month to settle things --- would using a Malaysian phone number (or Vietnamese or Thai) on my applications hurt my chances? Which of the countries would sound most sensible from ...

Re: Key months to get a job?

Thanks for the response. It is great to hear that now is the best time. With the clock ticking, however, I was also wondering if the hiring will also virtually stop in July and August (like in Europe) or if it will pretty much go on until the next CNY?

Re: Temporary Accomodation

Thank you for the kind reply. How about shared apartments where someone posts to rent a room in a flat that they rent? Would that seem feasible? Of course with 1000 to 3000 to spend, I am not really into hostels, and need some privacy. I am an ICA of the PEP. Other thing I was considering would be t...

Re: EP Holder Pregnant with Married Singaporean

Sorry to jump in, but after reading this I wonder, if in the birth certificate the father of the child is listed and he is a SC, it is as much his child ans hers, isn't it? So would it not be possible for the man himself (who is a SC) to apply for his child to get the SC? Even regarding the counseli...

Re: Offer to relocate from Dubai

Singapore and Dubai are quite comparable in terms of living cost. You can find cheap food options and expensive food options. High-end shopping malls. And expensive condos. A slight advantage compared to Dubai could be that the relatively cheaper Singapore neighborhoods further away from the city ce...

Key months to get a job?

In Europe most hiring stops in July and August (most people take summer holidays) and in December (Christmas). What is it like in Singapore? Is hiring going on the whole year around or are there also some months when most hiring stops? P.S. With regards to the key months to get a new job, in Europe ...

Temporary Accomodation

What is the best and cheapest way of getting a temporary furnished accommodation for a few months (other than a hotel) until I find a permanent flat and settle everything? Or is hotel the only option? My budget would be like 1000 to 3000 depending of what I could get. I am currently on short-term to...

Get back in your box tom./ I disapprove online mockery of any form. You been around for quite a bit on this forum, and you have great experience and knowledge. I appreciate your wider perspective on things, but you should not use it to show your superiority and mock newcomers with less experience. ...

Re: PEP and the 144,000 requirement

Thanks for the reply, that is very useful. How long does it take to get the PEP once I use the IPA to get it? Same day, few days or few weeks? As I will need to provide the PEP to the employer, I do not want to end up waiting several weeks for the MOM to send it to me. Do they hand me the PEP or do ...

Re: Heart breaking PR application, snot and tears evywhere

Most people don't make huge money with 1.5 years of experience. After graduating, I was 1 year on internship earning 1000 dollars per month - which was great for an internship. My added value and income multiplied gradually but quickly with each year passing. Thus, I would not worry about how much s...

Re: PEP and the 144,000 requirement

Thanks. Based on what you say, I shall hurry to apply for jobs in SG (even from abroad) but not necessarily hurry to pick up the PEP. Would you say, I could also start living on and off in a hotel or a furnished flat in SG and looking for a job while I have the IPA but while not yet picking up the P...

Re: PEP and the 144,000 requirement

Thanks for your replies, I hope it is pro rata in the 1st year. Technically speaking, you do not have to earn the 144,000 per year in Singapore. You could earn 100,000 in the US until June and then earn 50,000 in a New Job in SG as of September, you would get more that 144,000 and they are happy. Ho...

Re: Heart breaking PR application, snot and tears evywhere

Thanks for the reply. I got confused a little bit. Is MOM involved in? Is it the ICA that is supposed to make the decision? Sorry, contact the ICA, not the MOM. Thank them for considering your application and ask politely if they could advise you on the reason for rejection. Regarding the rest, don...
