Re: Transferwise do cheap transfers but more important can provide US, UK and Aus bank accounts

While I haven’t done such a transfer, TW will at least quote an attempted transfer up until you exceed RM975k... then it says this is the most a recipient can receive. Maybe if taken further there will be a hiccup, or maybe it depends if you are making the transfer to yourself or a third party? I d...

Re: Transferwise do cheap transfers but more important can provide US, UK and Aus bank accounts

Sorry, what do you mean by deposit limits? I didn't come across a deposit limit anywhere. Do you mean in the bank accounts you use for the transfers? The TF account generated? You can leave funds in their borderless accounts. They only allow 5k in total to be held in those accounts over night. Ther...

Re: Bangladeshi was first imported Covid19 case since May

The ST article about today's numbers has a more full explanation. The Bangladeshi chap had already had two previous operations in Singapore and was having medical complications from that when back home so was granted a waiver for follow up treatment with his original doctors.

Re: Netflix?

Just had a look at the Starhub Netflix options: https://www.starhub.com/personal/entertainment/fibre-tv/netflix.html and it looks like you can either have it included in your bill or pay separately by credit card. Prices and plans are identical to direct Netflix subscriptions. Personally I'm on the ...

Re: Netflix?

Netflix content is region dependent so logging in from Singapore will show different content than the US or UK but I don't think there is any additional constraint by signing up via Starhub. I had already subscribed to Netflix before Starhub started offering it and can't see any reason to change ove...

Re: Safe entry Singapore?

Yeah I noticed one on the park connector I use to walk to the shops, don't see anyone actually using it. The really stupid thing is the Safe Entry code is at the entry to a 4-5 metre wide foot/cycle path between HDB blocks and a drainage channel, other side of the drainage channel is a parallel foot...

Re: Covid-19: Are we sampling to determine infection rates?

From the quoted article: "It was unclear just how telling the preliminary data was, as Mr. Cuomo acknowledged. And the accuracy of the antibody testing available in the United States in general has been called into question." To test if someone has been infected and recovered, assuming they had not ...

Re: Please wear a mask when going out

There are two concerns about wearing masks that I've seen in various articles on UK and NZ news sources: 1. They can be uncomfortable and may lead to people touching their face more often which increases infection chances 2. Some people are assuming that because they are wearing a mask they are safe...

Well you can leave but you might not be allowed back... https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/coronavirus-singapore-permanent-resident-who-breached-stay-home-notice-stripped-of-pr This guy had failed to comply with the SHN before trying to leave so slightly different, but I think they'll want you t...

Re: Health Certificate (COVID-19) Thailand; GP can issue?

You're expecting statements from the Thai government to make sense? This is the same government that has a junior minister who was convicted and served jail time for importing heroin into Australia yet this does not disqualify him from being an MP as "The reference to a court order from another coun...

Re: Thailand (Phuket); Visa on Arrival stopped?

You and everyone else, Thailand seems to change their mind and the rules twice a day. As far as I can tell the Visa on Arrival changes only applied to 21 countries where you had to go to the VoA counter in the airport on arrival. However according to this: https://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/easy/1...

Re: Traveller note: COVID 19 : Stay home notice for All travellers travelling from ASEAN, Japan, UK, Switzerland

so ....... if Sg airport is shut (+ferry) then you become over-stayer ? I'm guessing if that happens the govt. will need to do some sort of temporary visa extensions, they're talking about the same in Thailand at the moment https://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/easy/1882100/tourism-minister-wants-to...
