Re: Transfer a FDW directly to new employer is being delayed by MOM?

No, to assume my intentions to pursue illegal activities is patently wrong. I've managed for years here without a helper but changing circumstances means I now need one but am unclear on the options available. Not sure why you assume my salary is 5k.

Sit down, take a breath and relax.

Re: Transfer a FDW directly to new employer is being delayed by MOM?

I had a FDW all lined up, application then rejected five times over six weeks and we had to let her go. Within a day she was accepted into a locals home. It's infuriating as my home environment has changed significantly and my family really needs someone to watch young children due to work commitmen...

Re: Insuring car with foreign licence

For those that one day may have a similar inquiry, insurance companies will cover you with a foreign license provided you convert at some near point.

Insuring car with foreign licence

Looking to purchase a car but am yet to convert my licence to a Singapore one.

Assuming I purchased a car tomorrow, and aim to convert my licence at some point in the next few months, would an insurance company cover me with my foreign licence?

Anyone done this before or is it even possible?

Re: The Thugs That Run China

There are plenty of rumblings at the moment about whether or not Xi will change the current system whereby he will extend his stay beyond the current 10 year maximum time. If so, this will shake the party to the core. Interesting times ahead

Re: Corporal Punishment in Schools

ps. In your shoes I think I might be more concerned about the alleged lack of critical thinking ability that is engendered in pupils in SG. That's perhaps far more damaging than a teacher trying to help a pupil from going completely off the rails via [the possible extreme of] corporal punishment. C...

Re: I drove for Uber last night so you tards could ask me questions

Since surge was quietly shunned, I've noticed fares are generally higher than before. I can't think of any reason to use Uber when competitors are significantly cheaper.

Do you get notification of an area surging in interest still?

Re: Purchasing a leasehold property in Singapore

Thanks for the feedback, all. I'm more looking for a place to buy and live to avoid dead rent money. It's really hard to know what the gahmen want to do with leaseholds, as there's no discussion whatsoever from the opposition or community groups. The lack of transparency on such matters leaves many ...

Purchasing a leasehold property in Singapore

I'm looking at entering the property market here. I've done a ton of research - likely not enough - but am looking at getting various perspectives, i.e. locals, expats etc on the purchase of a particular type of property. The Tiong Bahru leasehold, pre-war flats of blocks 55-82 are nearing a solid 4...

Re: Uber or Grab?

Since Uber went with the upfront cost, all my usual routes have increased in price. This ranges from $3 to $5 per trip (shortish trips). I assume demand is through the roof or more likely they've redeveloped their system to maximise fares and no one will know. I've stopped using them altogether and ...

Shophouse Walkup Living - What are your thoughts?

Looking for positive/negative experiences of shophouse walkup living in Singapore. Have you lived in one before or still do? Noise issues a concern? Have you rented above a shop or both levels? Any tips for finding the right one? Any great websites to view possible listings? Any feedback most welcom...

There's a rally near my home today by the SDP. Can foreigners attend or loiter inconspicuously nearby to listen?

Re: Landlord Refusing to Return Depoist and Extorting for More

The majority of these stories of LL vs Tenant could be avoided with a first world Rental Tenancy Bond Authority that holds the damn bond instead of all these narcissistic psycho's. As a landlord of multiple properties back home, and renting here in Singapore, I am aghast at how the system is complet...
