Re: Risky Employment Contract Terms

To the OP, as SMS said, if there is anything about the contract clause that you and your wife are unhappy with, she shouldn't accept the role. When I stepped off the plane here about 25 years ago I was also under the burden of an employment contract with a local firm that had grossly unfair terms re...

If you think SG is bad for smart phone addiction, you should take a trip to HK. I'm pretty sure they have their phones surgically attached to their faces.

Re: Unintentional Breach of Contract

Does your rental contract have an itemised list of what the rental covers? eg $XXXX for apartment, $XXX for furnishings, $XXX for Utilities etc? There may be a way to determine a fair reduction of your monthly rent from that. The only other thing I can suggest is to do as PNGMK says, and get an esti...

Re: PR Renewal Online

If you are not actually residing in Singapore, then it is quite likely your REP (which is what you are actually renewing) will be rejected. For both you and your kids. It's called Permanent RESIDENT for a reason.

Re: Special Gathering of Eagles

Some of those beers are pretty strong so careful what you order. I'm good with TAP at Capitol too. And bgd is right: Coronado Guava Islander is delicious and usually on tap (TAP regularly alternates its beers on tap) and is 7% alcohol. It'll put you on your backside pretty fast if you're not careful!

Venues put forward thus far.... Beerfest - Rochester Park TAP - Robertson Quay or Capitol Theatre (next to City Hall MRT.) as noted - $10 pints The "Chinese Druggists Association" on Thywitt Road (shortísh walk from Kallang MRT) drinks on the high side according to reviews. Just a point t...

Re: Special Gathering of Eagles

The problem is, I think every bar will be showing the WC. I was going to suggest TAP at either Robertson Quay or more centrally, Capitol Theatre (next to City Hall MRT.) Great range of beers (around $10 an American "pint" - which isn't of course a pint) and their spam fries are sinfully go...

Re: A quick question about right

As BGD says, you're not in the UK or Europe now. The contract you signed is the only guarantee you have. And by the sounds of it, the company is offering you more than what was in the original contract. Are you sure this is really all about a disciplinary matter over a 'couple of sickies'? Normally ...

Re: Expat neighbourhood lowdown..

You might want to look at an old colonial black and white. Google SPIO and look at the their rentals. These are govt owned former British civil servant and army housing units. Most of them have yards. Hmmm... good suggestion. But whippets... the greenery that surrounds most of those beautiful black...

Maybe we shouldn't assume that the OP is only interested in dating Western men?
