Re: The Bitcoin topic that Wd40 wanted :)

Whilst they can make you money, I think these Bitcoin-tracking vehicles are defeating the purpose of Bitcoin I feel.

Re: The Bitcoin topic that Wd40 wanted :)

Ya think? Down 20 percent in 10 hours? Showing all the signs of blowing up... a bubble... there's not a damn thing supporting the value of bitcoin except for mindless speculators piling in, hoping to make a killing. And you're going short Bitcoin with what objective? :P But sure, Bitcoin's current ...

I don't know how you could have missed it, it's everywhere: CME, CBOE.

But I suppose it kinda explains your earlier post :)

By the way, bring lots of money.

Let us know how you get on eh.

Good luck.

Re: The Bitcoin topic that Wd40 wanted :)

Can you say, "Tulips?" There are skeptics out there that, 20 years on, are still calling Amazon a bubble. I guess you've got about a decade to go :) Not a Bitcoin fanboy, but I do know that at this stage it's not going to be easy to end this thing just on the basis of it being a bubble. 2...

The Bitcoin topic that Wd40 wanted :)

A thread dedicated to Bitcoin is a bit overdue, given its growing traction/bubble (take your pick) lately. Plus, I'm curious why we hear so little about Bitcoin from a board in Singapore, which, after all, has both FinTech hub and Smart Nation ambitions. Surely Bitcoin, and cryptocurrencies in gener...

You also missed Karratha and Dampier, places that feature awesome, almost alien, terrain that has to be seen to be believed.

Re: State of rental market Q4 2017, plus suggestions!

Rent has been dropping for years and will continue to drop for years. In fact, the rate of descent is accelerating, given the huge overhang of new units coming online. And with the countless n-blocks recently, this over-capacity situation has exacerbated considerably. Whatever the asking rent, expec...

Re: HELP! Landlord threatening to sue of LOI

I've seen this go the other way many, many times. But yes, an LOI isn't a binding contract. In the obligation stakes, it ranks even lower than an oral agreement. You basically choped the place, that's it, nothing more, nothing less. He's despo, given the sucky rental market, and has decided the bluf...

Re: Tenant breaking contract - my options

With just one side of the story, it's a bit hard to give unbiased advise. One thing I can say, however, is that a brand new property isn't by definition without any flaws.

He's not leaving Singapore, so it's not a work termination issue. What did he tell is his reason for bailing out?

Re: SCT order landlord to pay up, he's refusing...now what??

My advise is not to turn this thing into a personal issue. Easier said than done, sure, but try to let go - just have a detached mindset that you will get your money. Don't give up. The good news is that the LL has it much much worse. He may appear bochap and stubborn, but, trust me, his stress is w...

Re: To RENT or BUY?? (Condo)

In Singapore, it's always recommended that you buy property. The stamp duty in Singapore is cheaper than in other cities such as Manhatten and Hong Kong. The price of property of Singapore is also still relatively attractive at the moment. With decreasing no of new units in the coming years (2018-2...

Re: Mauritian

By the way, Roudy, do you happen to know a decent car rental company in Mauritius? We've been scanning Google and the usual aggregate holiday sites, but virtually all links are directing us to either intermediates or the big players like Hertz, Budget, Avis etc.

Any insider tips?
