Re: Be ware of this unethical landlord and agent

Interesting perspective. The air-con servicing is a pain in the arse I agree. But have you ever opened up one of them after it hasn't been serviced for a while? That felt screen loads up with serious crud. It also tends to start smelling mouldy after a while. I don't think they need a full-on servic...

I wouldn't be surprised if a few of those 81% required a wee bit of persuasion so to speak. All is fair in love and the property market.

Have a a bit of a root around; odds are it may no longer be such a given.

I always negotiate hard before renting and then write-off the deposit. Over a 5 year period loss of deposit is no big deal considering how much you spent on rent. Just divide the deposit by number of months. I bet it is not even 5% of the rent.

Re: Restaurants with good ambience in Singapore?

By the by, we had a pretty darn decent meal at Spize, the one near the firing range. The dishes we'd selected (Valentine's Day Special) were unlike anything I've had here in Singapore and the service was - dare I say - European standard. Sure, they're fairly hard on the wallet, but not at all in the...

Uhm, own up to your mistake? Eat some serious humble pie and hope your wife can forgive, though perhaps not necessarily forget.

If she can't, well, lesson learned eh. Hopefully.

Beware 24hr plumber service

Both my toilets had leaky hoses. I'd replaced the hoses, but couldn't get them to stop dripping where they joined the system. In the process I'd wrecked the thread of one of the plastic connectors. Time for a pro to step in. Called the 24 hour service; a guy called "John" answered and said...

ICO = IOU. Inevitably.

There may have been a few legitimate ICOs way at the start. But too many get-rich-quick scammers subsequently jumped on the bandwagon, out to take your cash and not much else.

I read that about half of all of last year's ICOs have already folded.

Re: The Best Breakup Advice I got

Personally, I figure it's a bit of both. I think a Samaritan might plug a book if it was particularly helpful to him/her. But I doubt that he/she would go so far as to add a purchase link. The fact that the link in question is way longer than a straight-up Amazon link to that book should be makes me...
