Re: SCDF ambulances are under strain

SCDF do not transport already dead people, the police coroner and casket services do that. Every patient in an ambulance is assumed to be alive at the start of the journey but DOA does happen ("flatline") That’s my point, the point of the ambulance is to get live people to the hospital ASAP so they...

Re: SCDF ambulances are under strain

Malcontent - I agree. Specifically if you have a heart issue get a taxi or someone to drive you to SGH or NUH. No where else. Don't wait for SCDF. And don't use a private ambulance. My GP says if you have a heart attack get to the NHCS at SGH if at all possible. If not there, then NUH. My neighbor u...

Re: SCDF ambulances are under strain

I believe it's a warning that the ambulance may move off unexpectedly. It's only recently that Ambulances (and only SCDF) were legally permitted to run red lights. It may be a hang over SOP from then.

Re: Buying a HDB or Condominium?

Malcontent, thanks for that. It is nothing terrible then and if the property has made a profit quite manageable. For buying a private property here you may be able to borrow the deposit against your substantial stock portfolio at a good rate (the stocks become collateral). However I think we all kn...

ICT is relevant in terms of ease of obtaining an EP in the first instance. He will have red carpet.

Re: Buying a HDB or Condominium?

Well interesting you should say that. We are in en enbloc and every time I say to my US wife.... hey the next place we can put in your name to save ABSD she has a mini meltdown about the eventual tax paperwork and cost. How bad is the CGT going to be on a property gain in Singapore for a US citizen ...

Are you deliberately trying to provoke a fight?

The short answer though is yes even though the gahmen will deny it if asked.

Can anyone explain to me why ambulances in Singapore will turn on their lights and siren, and then stop and wait patiently at the red light? It just blows my mind!
They don't on urgent cases (P1) according to my son. Must be a lower priority.

Re: Buying a HDB or Condominium?

The primary reason I have avoided buying a HDB is that they cannot be used as collateral. You cannot borrow against your equity in a HDB but you can borrow against equity in a freehold, 999 and 99 year lease private property. I borrowed 150k about 3 years ago to renew COE, pass off an Australian mor...

You messed up putting your current partner down as the father even though he isn't. You should have fought that issue at the time.

To back that mistake out is hard.

Re: DBS Non Existant Fraud Controls

People have been repeatedly warned about #1 but the scammers know how to manipulate people psychologically. This is the reason i told my elderly parents to avoid digital banking for now especially as i am not near them. You've made a good point. What I've done before (but not currently) is register...
