Re: Police raids handphone shops

I think there have been far too many data leaks here (and some really bad ones) and the gahmen has NOT slapped the source of the leaks (poorly secured data held by telcos etc) hard enough.

Part of the process but better than a rejection!

Re: Can I apply LTVP from outside of Singapore?

Ok - seems you're more up to date and I may have been thinking of PR which can be applied for from overseas.

Perhaps consider that instead.

LTVPs are easily obtained by spouses once in Singapore.

Re: Administrator and executor of Will

For executors some countries or states have a "state trustee" who can act as an executor. They tend to be organized but do charge a fee.

The other issue is that you have assets, presumably, in Singapore and other places. You may need to have two wills in that address each jurisdiction.

Re: OCBC Saga

None of this would have happened if the SMS SenderID hadn't allowed the fraudulent SMS to be "grouped" together with legitimate SMS's from a bank. That is a government regulators fault. Full stop. Now I agree "don't click links" but OCBC has sent legitimate links about their business before. I agree...

Re: Police raids handphone shops

Well - not just OCBD but the regulators as well. For a country that likes to micromanage it's systems there are some glaringly large holes in their systems.

^ True. If he can afford it and don’t mind donating $100 to ICA, he can do so. As long he understands the risks and don’t come crying back on the forum when rejection happens. $10 says he will come back asking why did he get rejected even though he just got married LEGALLY by the REGISTRAR OF MARRI...

Re: SC Approval & Timeline

Why to wait for another 2 years for her PR. Since I am a PR and she has also completed 5 years after coming to Singapore, it is ideal she applies for the PR as soon as possible (may be in June 2022) and PR result mostly can come in before Sep 2023. In the mean time I will apply again for SC and if ...

Re: Police raids handphone shops

To be clear while I am pleased OCBC are paying out to those scammed I do feel the gahmen here is really letting the side down on cyber security. The SenderID issue (which is how these people were tricked) is a govt regulation issue. The theft of NRIC data from MyRepublic needs the govt to step in wi...

Re: Working freelance in Singapore

For what it's worth I have been in a situation with four different sources of income this year that high light the differences: 1. Regular employment income from a Singapore registered entity - they will file an IR8A and the income declared and tax assessed by IRAS. No brainer (use SRS, CPF contrib...

Also need to do block SenderID or require registration as this blogger / researcher points out. https://captain-sinkie.com/articles/2022/01/ocbc-phishing-scam-is-extremely-dangerous-for-singaporeans "Edit: upon doing more research on this, I realise that there are countries which require registratio...

Re: Anybody tried Barry’s Bootcamp?

Just as an update, I attended my first red room class a little over 2 weeks ago and since then have gone for 4 more classes. Must say that it is one of the most intensive fitness classes I’ve ever attended. You start out either on the “floor” doing strength training, or on the treadmills doing card...

It was pretty funny Lisa. Still makes me smile 40 years later. His dear Cherie passed away from cancer about 10 years ago but my mother is still friends with Jean.
