Re: PR REP renewal

Don't resign. If you're out of work for a significant period and not retired you may not get your REP renewed. If you do it may only before for 12 months.

Re: IVF

I can't recall tje chances of a live birth now but it has improved a lot since I explored it in the late 90s. I think it's down to 1 in 3 chances but the egg viability is a huge factor and old eggs (they are the age of the donor) are not as viable. FYI in general terms egg viability drops off post ...

Re: today is the last day for topping up CPF/SRS and Jan 1 is the first day to top up again

The other psychological reason is that the incentive for SRS is quite strong IME. As the year draws to a close the thought of paying 3k extra in tax looms and I find it easy to find the $15,300.

Re: today is the last day for topping up CPF/SRS and Jan 1 is the first day to top up again

My wife is an SRS virgin, thought of popping hers open this year so that she can unshackle by 62. The problem is… I’m just not totally convinced that the juice is worth the squeeze. Being restricted to Singapore investments adds cost that eats up the tax savings over time. This is especially true i...

Re: today is the last day for topping up CPF/SRS and Jan 1 is the first day to top up again

Great reminder, thanks PNGMK. An additional nuance comes to mind. If your MA is already maxed at 63k, then top back up to 63k as soon as there is a withdrawal, for example, when your IP or MediShield plan deducts, but before your next employment monthly contribution is made (else it will be channel...

Re: today is the last day for topping up CPF/SRS and Jan 1 is the first day to top up again

Just a reminder that we are entering the last 5 weeks for SRS and CPF top ups for the 2021 tax year. SRS Limits: 15,300 for SC PR. 35,700 for expats. CPF contribution limits: 37,740 Cheques take time to clear. Don't miss out. If your MA is low, top that up first as it is 100% tax deductible (MA limi...

Re: FDW called MOM and complaint

This is strange. 1 year back I had complained to MoM against my then FDW for moonlighting with some evidence. They took 4-5 months to revert with an email asking her to come to MoM office by when we already told her to go back to home country and even gotten her air ticket. The person who actually ...

My point I guess is that maybe, just maybe the PR approvals will pick up. Singapore is now competing for talent on a much broader front as evidences by an article in today's NYT.

Re: No SGD income with e-pass

It's not uncommon but completely unlawful for MNC employers to split income and report the splits as 100% of income in each tax jurisdiction separately. For example my ex boss was paid in MY and SG. His IR8A only showed his SGD part and his MY equivalent only showed the MY part. It's bullshit but th...

Was his wife in SG all these years and he visited her as a short term visitor or she went with him in whichever country he’s posted to? Does he have some kind of niche skills?
Oil and Gas engineer, policy development for UAE, some business start up skills. But at almost 60 seems odd.
