Re: Freelancing for a foreign company while on Tourist Visa

If the job is providing a reasonable income he should look at regularising the situations by registering a local company and working towards getting himself an EP via same company.

If it's business critical invite the best candidates for an interview in Singapore. We do that with exec / C-suite level people.

Re: Anyone here had any experience of Air Asia?

It's ok for leisure travel. Book one way if possible as nothing is really flexible after booking. (Book your return when you know your ready to return). Scoot is better IMO as they use the dreamliner and have SIA trained crew. J* is ok but below AA and Scoot IMO. Also there are a lot of region links...

Re: Social engineering: convincing stateside Americans that Singapore is not horrible

Singapore IS the choice of location for arbitration. The court system is open and uncorrupted. It also has a lower cost option: "The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC)" which is the only arbitration institution in Singapore. The SIAC administers most of its cases under its o...

Re: Register birth certificate for child

You can show the marriage cert. Just don't show the divorce cert. Or better yet ask an actual lawyer.

If the father signs the birth cert and is Singaporean the child will be Singaporean regardless of marital status.

Re: Can I request ICA to stop mistress entering to Singapore?

You could write to ICA and provide a negative character statement to ICA who "may" consider them as part of their evaluation in approving visas. You'd need to include that person's identification information (DOB / PP number). It's also possible to report to the SPF any criminal or vice ac...

Re: Help.. what happens to the sum of $$ in the joint acct which is in five digits when 3rd joint holder party died?

Accounts can be set up with survivorship rules but I suspect OP was trying to hide money from a divorce with the joint account. A common and despicable tactic here. (The court order cannot touch money jointly owned unless both are parties to the divorce).

Re: How does CPF life and cancelling PR work?

From my insurance advisor: 1) Upon reaching age 55, CPF board will set up a retirement account (RA) for you up to the full retirement sum (FRS) of $176,000 (current sum). The money comes from your special account (SA) and ordinary account (OA) (if the SA is insufficient to meet the FRS. The FRS in t...

Re: House renting with a power of attorney

Do you have the owners NRIC? It sounds as though the rental is authorised and legit but the primary issue here is if you need to sue the owner (for return of deposit for example) you need to know who to sue and it sounds like they're trying to hide that. It's a renters market so if they don't agree ...

Re: Employment situation for Geotechnical Engineers

Well they are here but they are mostly Indian people who aren't paid much and are mostly in the construction industry. She could consider consulting on a FIFO or something down to Australia as well. She could also look at switch to the Oil and Gas industry (Geophysics) which has a higher floor base ...

Re: Architects in Singapore

Most of the architects I've known in Singapore have departed for other locales so that sounds about right. The Unis here have pumped out a lot of grads as well over the last few decades so I suspect the market is a bit saturated.
