Re: Tenancy agreements/leases and your rights as a tenant

Hi wonder if any comments from someone as subject would have come up many times before: Our landlord wants to charge SGD 5000 flat fee for repairs (no breakdown of costs, biggest item is painting entire apartment whereas only small stains on two walls after 1,5 yrs) I negotiated down from 7500 SGD ...

I would try to put someone in place before you leave Canada.

Re: Credit card application for DP holder + no SG income

Try American Express. Charge cards tend to be a little easier to get.

My wife (on an EP) cannot get a CC here as an US citizen so I've had to give her a supplementary card. I know others who have had friends (trusted) get them supplementary cards.

I found friends all sorts of ways. Church, professional associations, drinking clubs, sports clubs. Never say NO to meeting someone.

Re: Transferwise do cheap transfers but more important can provide US, UK and Aus bank accounts

I loved Transferwise but I started hating it! Before I was able to pay my remote staffs via my credit card from HK but these days Transferwise asking to deposit money to DBS bank which is bull***t to me. Why will I use it if I have to go through all the pains again? Did anybody has the same problem...

Re: PR application by Ex SPR

Thanks for the reply PNGMK. I had written to ICA asking if I could renew the REP while overseas and also applied online and got a rejection. As I was overseas when REP expired, I ceased to be a PR. Subsequently, the ICA requested me to surrender the NRIC citing regulation 13 of the National Registr...

Re: HSBC or DBS

I like Maybank. They are part of the "5" ATM group (ANZ, HSBC, Standard, BoC, SBI and some others now) so ATM's can be found fairly easily. As they are not popular with locals they don't have such long queues as Damn Bloody Stupid, Ugly Ordinary or Ordinary Bee Chai bank. Also their customer service...

The agent won't have over the LL info. However if sued in the SCT will you will then see it and be able to negotiate direct to settle.. Don't panic, don't pay anymore. YOU ARE ON THE WINNING SIDE. They want the money. They will settle or lose it all. They know it.

Re: PR application by Ex SPR

1. Yes 2. As soon as you have one tax return would be a good start. Also I don't agree with this statement: "ICA did not allow it at the time as I was outside Singapore" - if you had shown (based on my direct experience) that you were overseas as the result of a temporary company transfer you should...

I imagine your MYKAD address would be sufficient to prove you reside in East Malaysia.
