Re: PR application

Profile is good, but the sticking point is going to be your ethnicity/nationality. You fall under "others" and are competing with all others (e.g., not chinese, Indian or Malay) in the world trying as well. Thanks for your reply.

Can I continue to file US taxes for the stocks instead of paying 30%?
How about the stocks in Roth IRA?
You're above my pay grade. Speak to a CPA.

Re: Notary issues

Sorry AmCham can't help. Are you a member of a reciprocal club with the American CLub? They may help.

Alternatively find a US bar admitted attorney. They can sign. Plenty around in Singapore. Ring around the law firms or check the AmCham company list.

Re: Getting Paid in USD or Singapore Dollar?

1. Correct - no more US tax obligation on income. Make sure you file for the last year you earn income in the US tho. 2. You'll end up paying withholding taxes on the dividends (30%) and have to file a W-8BEN to reduce or register for this. As Sing / USA have a dual taxation treaty it may be worth l...

Re: Online stock brokers in Singapore

Ok I've an US friend here who day trades. I've reached out to her to see what platform she is on. It's a real shame you can't use SaXO as they have just adjusted prices downwards for VIP and premium customers.

Congrats Smoulder - my initial impression on your issues was that you changed jobs a bit too quickly early on but then settled down.

Re: Learning Malay (Bahasa Melayu) for adult

I would look for a Malay tutor prepared to tutor adults. I agree that BM is quite different to BI though.

Re: Relocation from Singapore to Canada

Hi- 6 years ago I shipped everything from Singapore to Vancouver Canada using "Seven Seas". They were great. Everything arrived intact, and I though the prices was very reasonable. Rob Is there anything you regret not taking back or wish you had taken back Rob? Old chinese furniture or antiques or ...

MY SPR friends around or above 55 have a positive view on CPF compared to SC

The usual ah beng rant on CPF from Singaorean's is that the gahmen stole my money which is of course completely baseless. The second rant is "I want my money now when I am 55"; forgetting that literally SCORES of their fathers either lost all their CPF to scams, or buggered off to Batam to marry the...
