Re: the “not whiskey” about malaysia
I'm sorry to hear you've decided to separate. I know it's a cliche but I did find counseling helpful in my first marriage.

Re: Tax clearance while getting on new EP
You should be able to continue Giro unless you want to leave Singapore in the mean time. If IRAS demand payment immediately explain that you atr moving jobs (hopefully you can provide proof also).
The main issue IRAS have is with EPs fleeing the country with a tax debt and no plan to repay it.

Originally I was going to sell my condo as part of that plan but given that the gahmen has decided to ring fence housing almost completely I think I'll hang onto it for rental returns as part of that. My forecast retirement income at 65 should be close to 25k.

I think it's a highly dynamic situation. I would not trust the tool right now. I suspect we are now in a state of permanent flux and I think that is by design.

I don't think the tool is updated to the Sep requirements. Hence why I expect a shit show when companies go to renew or apply for EP post Sept 2023.

Exactly. As WD40 implies Singapore is killing off older expats. Probably some draconian attempt to fix their TFR issue.

My renewal is coming up early next year and as per the SAT tool, I am eligible for S pass :( I am in financial services, age 44 and salary slightly below 11k a month. I dont understand why should age be a factor? The SAT tool said I am eligible for EP, my salary is 10k and my age is 39. Maybe natio...

Re: how long to apply for Singapore citizenship?
It's never good to lie :P Even as a SG food lover I must admit I can see where Malaysians are coming from when they say their food is better  If you spend enough “soak time” across the border, you will know. Take a simple thing like iced milo, I don’t even order it here… but in Malaysia? Bole...

Thank god for Ibanking now. You can just carry a token amount of cash and pretend that's all you have. Having (pretending to have) limited or no money has always worked for me when faced with any situation where someone is trying to take me to the cleaners, including in the PH. Luckily for me, I've...

Re: REP renewed as SEP
You'll be fine regardless Mal. I sold my stock portfolio last night. I don't entirely trust the GOP not to screw up the debt ceiling deal. You sold everything?! I feel like if we do have a recession, it'll be an excellent opportunity to buy more. Exactly. I was back up nicely after the terrible sta...

Re: Do new citizens have to serve NS?
This is why there are no 'exemptions' from NS, only waivers. Waivers can be rescinded when ever it's necessary. I looked through my hubby’s letter from CMPB and it says: You are exempted from the following… So is it considered a waiver or an exemption even if the word “exempted” is used in the lett...

the road block was very very well staffed. so this wasn’t 2 off duty lone wolf cops with a cone and a whistle… the reason given for no discount on the bribe requested was coz there’s too many months to feed - including senior officers back at the station. they were set up exactly where most people ...
