Re: Bringing significant other to SG from USA. Need advice.

SMS, I have read the OP and SE's post and my reply is an expansion of that. The comment on DP is on the assumption that they will get married.

Re: Bringing significant other to SG from USA. Need advice.

What is her degree in ? You should look at the job vacancies posted on local company and MNC websites. While it will be difficult to be shortlisted for a Singapore job if you are currently abroad, the postings will give you an idea of what companies are looking for and when your gf is here on a DP, ...

Re: NS liability for PR under Foreign Students scheme

I am 23 years old There is a decent chance that you might be called to do NS if you get your PR. Appreciate the response. Is this based on personal experience or from a friend of yours? I am aware that I am definitely liable for NS . However, I have heard of some cases whereby new PRs are just requ...

Re: Local school admission for Foreigners

Many local schools accept foreigners (expats) but due to limited vacancies only a few percent of foreigners can get a slot. The procedure to get into primary 1 (for next school year Jan 2020) is below: https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/phase-3-registration-for-non-singapore-...

Re: PR Application Withdrawn without knowing

Have you ever changed residences during the duration of your application? If yes, it could be possible that you have missed some correspondence from ICA. For some applicants, ICA has required them to provide additional information (e.g. parents information). Non submission of this information after ...

Re: Mulling over PR application

It only costs SGD 100 for an application. Go for it. Nationality is not the preferred type but otherwise you have a good economic profile.

Re: Occupying an HDB during minimum occupancy period

how big is the hdb unit? I believe the hdb owner is allowed to rent out a room if the hdb is a certain size and configuration, regardless of MOP status and subject to maximum number of occupants.

I did not know that your marriage is same sex. That clears it up. You could be correct there.

As an adult, your citizenship application will be based mostly on your own merits. Your family ties to Singapore is a plus but your prolonged absence from Singapore will weigh negatively.

Re: Advice on getting SG citizenship within limited timeframe, lived overseas for 10 years. What are my odds?

Because you are non-resident for a long time, your chances are low but going for you is the fact that you are of the preferred race/nationality. Your additional PRs will also be taken against you as a sign that you may be thinking of permanently settling outside of Singapore. I'm not sure how releva...

Re: Rejected the transfer of REP?

They give a 1 year REP for those PRs who are not resident in Singapore for a certain amount of time in the last 5 years. If you still are not resident in Singapore at the end of that year then it is probable that your REP renewal will be rejected .

Re: NS obligations for son

There are no NS obligations for a non-PR/non-citizen male person. A child of a PR is not given an automatic PR, it has to be applied for. There are some who say that the non-application of a male child of a PR may adversely affect that PR's chances of REP renewal. I am not sure of that because since...

Re: S Pass rejected, plans to apply E pass

Epass has a more stringent requirement for employees in terms of salary, position and qualifications but is less stringent for employers. If your prospective employer improves your salary and position offered, then the chance of EP approval may increase. Of course, this new position and salary has t...

Re: Singapore PR Extension

Anytime that you have resided outside of Singapore will lessen your chances of renewal but based on anecdotal evidence, some PRs who have resided outside of Singapore were given a 1 year REP to allow them to re-establish their residencies in Singapore.
