They took care of everything after the contract was signed. All I had to do was show up at MOM to collect my pass.

JR8-I only ended up here since my boyfriend is working here as well.

Hi, So I have a TEFL cert from the US as well as a degree in Child Psyc. I moved here on a tourist visa (90 days). I just started applying like crazy when I got here since I only had three months. It was a leap of faith since I had no job and if I didn't find one, I'd have to return home in 3 months...

Are you already in SG? If not, your search is going to be very difficult (most likely futile!). Your chances will be better once you are here and have an SG address and phone number. The only job prospects you may have here with TESOL is tuition centers for children or local preschools. Most schools...

From my experience, you'll be lucky to get an interview lined up from abroad. You can even tell them that you'll be in SG soon but your resume will still be passed. I applied for many jobs abroad without a single reply but as soon as I was here and had an SG address/phone # on my resume, I got plent...

I also had tons of problems opening an account with them. It took almost 3 months to get my account functioning properly; I had all the necessary documents to open an account too. I went to the Jurong Branch and the one at Dhoby Guat. I feel like the employees are just grabbed off the street and tol...

I'm assuming you only have CELTA/TEFL or some equivalent? Nothing like JET or Interac that I know of. After interviewing with a few places here, salary offers were 4000sgd and up. There are virtually no opportunities to teach adults. Most places that will hire CELTA/TEFL certificate teachers are tui...

I'm 28/f and have been here since Jan. I'm also working on my German at Goethe so it would be nice to have someone to speak a little German with! Feel free to PM me.

Explain the situation to your current provider in the UK. In the US, it worked for me most of the time. They will give you the unlock codes. Otherwise, you could try and find a shop there that does it. If all else fails, you can buy a really basic phone here for really cheap.

I'm from the US and when at home, I tip anyone that provides a service to me. The reason being is that these people usually make minimum wage and their tip money isn't just extra spending money, it's living money. The reason most of these services are better in the US is because they are actually wo...

Quick question on ep for all you experienced people!

So I came here on a tourist pass and the validity of that pass runs out on Weds. I have been hired by a company and the EP has been approved (so says MOM website) I was also told that you need to have a valid visa to pick up the EP and I have doubts that this will be done by Weds. Do I need to apply...

I second the 6 month being too short and you maybe need to consider staying longer. It's not worth the trouble for the employment pass from the employer's perspective. From my experience, the minimum contract that is typical is 2 years. Also, the majority of jobs posted that are looking for native E...
