Formally complaining about a Vendor

The vendor that we purchase food and consumables from, delivered rice packets that contain worms- now the second time around. Despite telephonic complaints, these guys are not responding and I am at the verge of formally putting up a case against them. The fact that we were feeding on this item unti...

Restaurent with a party hall for Kid's birthday

Any recommendations for an Indian restaurant to conduct a child's first birthday celebration ? Priorities: good food, decent ambiance and reasonable menu/charges...happy to pay upto 25-30 per head...we are expecting about 40 guests (too many to accommodate at home)...

How do the Condo management take decisions ?

At our condo (I am the owner/occupier), the management recently tightened security by locking both the pedestrian gates (needs access to open). It is nearly impossible for someone to open the gate on his/her own with a child in the stroller (I got 2 small kids). As a result my wife/helper is unable ...

To add to the latest comment: Singapore is not the best place for a fresh PhD to undergo training towards academic independence. Go to an established laboratory in Europe or USA or AUS for a couple of years (that is, if you can afford to) to pick-up new scientific credentials, improve communication ...

You should certainly wait a bit to have a reasonable chance..perhaps try after 2 years with enough evidence related to job progression -improved title (from Research Asst to postdoc, salary (3.5 k to 4.5 or so- dont expect 5k being a fresh PhD) and productivity (publications) etc. An income for wife...

SG PR Children traveling out of singapore

We are Indian citizens (with PR status in SG) and are traveling to India for vacation shortly. As the children (also PRs) do not have identity cards, is it sufficient to carry copies of their entry and re-entry permits along with passports ? I believe this being the case, but thought of checking if ...

Rude condo security- what to do ?

Not sure if any of you ever came across the situation where the security guards at the condo behave in rude/arrogant ways ? There were 2 incidents in the last 3 weeks that got me really mad. One of the guards even started abusing my visitor and when I had to intervene- the guard told that he does no...

On making an estimate of renovation at newly purchased flat

Folks, I purchased a re-sale private apartment (condo). The unit is tenanted for a few more weeks, however, I would like to get an estimate done earlier with contractors so as to start the repair works as soon as I get the keys. To let me in to inspect the place thoroughly upon a mutual agreement (w...

Totally agree on your comment, I am not proud of the driving skills that many of my fellow countrymen have....My case it bit different though, as I also held valid licenses in the US & Europe during my several years of stay there..just that they are now expired :)

They said that the bar code is not getting recognized....The fact remains that it will take anyone with an internet access about 1 min to verify online- only require the license number and DOB of the individual.

Problem in license conversion

I have a valid drivers license from India since 2001 and now trying to convert to Singapore license. Passed the basic theory test recently, however the person at the counter denied me conversion when approached. She asked me to go for advanced theory and practical exams in SG, which is a waste of mo...

Can also can....Cannot also can :)

A friend of mine in his first week in singapore went to a local coffee shop..He asked the guy at the stall for coffee...After a second thought, he wondered if he could get coffee without milk...the response put him in utter confusion: "can also can...cannot also can" The Extract of this- coffee is s...

Asst Professor Salary ?

Can anyone tell how much an Asst. Professor make in singapore, on an average. I am talking about the tenure-track line for someone who completed PhD about 6 years ago at a reputed university, with postdoctoral/ independent research experience and excellent publication record.
